Hi guys! Maybe some of you been this situation. Waiting for interview at Montreal embassy for k1... this could take forever but we got not time to wait. Our priority at the moment to try to have a child as soon as possible because of our age... every month counts now...  please dont advise to wait with the child 👶... Question is there any difficulties we could face if I am pregnant on my k1 visa interview.... we are also planning to have a pastors blessing  ..just us 2 and the pastor.... thats all....blessing before God... no wedding dress nothing....what are your thoughts? Then, we will legally get married and have a wedding when I am in the USA....

Entering US to get married is fine.

Entering US to get married and knowingly adjust status is fraud and not allowed.

Entering the US and getting married makes your K1 invalid, and you'd have to come back to Canada, and start over with a CR1.

Being pregnant doesn't change anything. There's some ppl on here that have kids and they miss out on seeing them because of all this.

Yes, it keep closing even only for tourism. So that’s why they don’t need to us reschedule and reunion family, we can come back and forth to visit our families during this waiting time.
that’s the only thing I can accept they still not open any appointment for (other embassy says processing some immigrant or non-immigrant service). I don’t know 🤷🏻‍♀️

You cant really jump back and forth.  Canada requires a 14 day self isolation.  And some states also require that upon return if you leave the state.

I see, i guess i was hoping maybe maybe more embassies in Canada will do interviews.... 😁😁😁😁

There is only one US embassy in Canada and it is located in Ottawa.  The rest are consulates.  Only Montreal has the staffing and training to deal with K1 and immigrant visas.  The rest do NIV like student or work visas.

Canada is protecting its citizens.  It sucks for people who are waiting go be with their spouse or their significant other to be married.  It sucks for those waiting for their children and parents. It sucks a lot (and that's an understatement) but until the USA gets a handle on covid-19, Montreal will continue to stay closed. I haven't seen my 17 year old since Feb.  We normally get most of the summer together.  I can't risk her family members when she can't self-isolate. I have bills to pay and no where to self-isolate to go see her.  I know how much this hurts our hearts. Be strong for each other and understand this isn't just about you. They're not doing this to be mean or malicious. They're just doing what they think is right for people. And I don't blame them. It's hard for us to make rational decisions once our emotions are involved. Big hugs to you all. Be gentle with yourselves and others.

The virus is impacting the entire world, not countries in which there are elections in November.

For example, Manila is going back into lockdown now. Their next major election isn't until 2022.

Vietnam blocks almost all foreign nationals, even spouses of citizens.

Nigerian flights are almost at a standstill.

Japan blocks well over 100 different nationals/residents.

If you wish to visit your fiancé and marry him then return to start your CR1 then yes, but that is starting a new process.

entering the states with the intention of marrying and adjusting status is fraud (apparently) but if you were visiting and decided to change your mind and marry, that is legal (apparently). You cannot leave the US if you were to do that. So if you returned after marriage then you will be filing for CR1

It makes zero sense to protect Canada by refusing to allow canadians to immigrate the US. In fact by doing that they are increasing the number of Americans who can travel here based on exemptions.

There are other consulates doing interviews so its obviously not to protect the states. Just because people are emotional doesn't mean they aren't rational. There is no valid reason for montreal to be closed compared to some other consulates that are open.

100% Agree...if consulates had to rely on virus conditions in the US then no one would be open right now but we know this is not the case. According to State Dept own "Diplomacy Strong" guidelines Montreal should have entered Phase 2 weeks ago.

Some countries are doing interviews even where the virus is still strong and their borders with the US are still closed. Montreal could have started at least some interviews even if it was at a "lesser than normal" rate.

I don't know what's up with blaming Canada for the US consulates not being open? The Brazil consulate in Montreal is open. It has nothing to do with conditions in the US.

For the US consulate in Montreal, it seems to me they are not open independently of the conditions in Montreal. But maybe if Montreal had 0 cases for 6 months they would open, like Taiwan which never closed anything because their response to covid was on point. But the US main office in Taipei *just now* started opening.

To add to the my post above, to me the "local conditions" placeholder reason from the US consulate of Montreal just sounds like an excuse. Since they don't say what kind of local conditions they are looking for it works pretty well for them.

I really hope they have started mission critical visas, as they hadn't in June (and the previous consul was here in Montreal at that time). We will know in a few weeks when the issuances by post are published.

If you mean those visa classes listed in the proclamation they have not. Someone else reported their senator was told that the Montreal consulate does not acknowledge those visa classes as mission critical and are still only processing on emergency basis. It is ridiculous.

Thank you for the info. I'm sadly not surprised.

I just checked the non-immigration visas issued in other posts and in June Toronto did more than anything Montreal has done in several months. It is indeed a joke, if my situation wasn't as bad as it is thanks to the incompetence of the Montreal consulate, I would laugh =(.

Best of luck to you
