I don’t understand what is taking Montreal so long to reopen. Has there been a huge spike in cases in Montreal lately? Is it because they are expecting a second wave coming in?

It looks like base on the land boarder reopen.

We'll never know because Montreal will never tell us anything.

its not the land border because it's only closed for tourism. Last time I spoke to the place in charge of scheduling interviews they said the consulate had plans to reopen in August but that was 2 weeks ago, has anyone called them lately?

In which Canada will extend the land border closure again and they won’t reopen because USA does not have a grip on its’ situation with covid at all. Not to mention USCIS is struggling with furloughs so there is delays there too.

I just wish they would tell us the reasoning.

Yes, it keep closing even only for tourism. So that’s why they don’t need to us reschedule and reunion family, we can come back and forth to visit our families during this waiting time.
that’s the only thing I can accept they still not open any appointment for (other embassy says processing some immigrant or non-immigrant service). I don’t know 🤷🏻‍♀️

I called  Montreal yesterday, the lady asked me where did I hear about Embassy opening on the 14th of August? She said she can't confirm or infirm if the info is correct and to call back next week. I am sick of this to be honest!

The August 14 date came from the call center for scheduling interviews, I don't think that they work in the Embassy directly. Apparently they had bad info.

someone here said their congressman staffer talked to Montreal and they had confirmed a possible August start date so it just seems like there's no communication between places or even employees, some of they say august and some say they don't know
