Good morning! One down and two to go for me. I can't figure out what to cook for Thanksgiving. We always eat at my mom's house with her whole family, aunts, uncles, cousins. I only need to take a side dish and maybe a dessert. I just can't think of anything. I wanted to cook something different but that isn't too hard. I'm not a very good cook. I usually try to take something Mexican just to be different. Most of the time the family is expecting it. I just can't seem to come up with any good Mexican recipes.

Just couldn't stay my @ss away!

you should go with a traditional american thanksgiving, not mexican food. IMHO.

Well I would. And sometimes I do, just depends. But usually when I bring a traditional dish the family asks where the Mexican food is. It really doesn't matter to me. I'm happy to cook whatever, except menudo. That stuffs nasty, Charles. I'll probably just end up throwing something together at the last minute. I just thought if I was going to do Mexican food again I'd do something different instead of the same old thing I always take. With everyone that comes we usually have the traditional dishes covered, sweet potato casserole, green bean casserole, stuffing, turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, etc. It doesn't leave me much choice.

i'll agree to that

hey how about them things they used to serve at pancho's restaurants? kinda like a little pillow, no idea what they are called, but you could bite the end off and fill them with honey and butter

for Christmas I usually make these tortilla wrap-ups... they are more of an appetizer though...

you just take some flour tortillas and spread them with some flavoured savoury cream cheese , like herb and garlic or vegetable etc..) and then sprinkle with chopped deli meat; like ham, chopped bell peppers and grated cheese.... then you roll them up and cut them into chunks... they are always a hit and I usually have no leftovers... these can be warmed up in the oven too until the chesse melts but they are really good cold too.....

for Thanksgiving dessert.. I always make trifle...

all it is is chocolate cake, pudding, cool whip and crunch bars and you just layer them in that order in a bowl.... also a big hit......

* for the pudding I mix 2 4 serving size instant chocolate puddings with 1 4 serving size vanilla pudding and with 4 and a bit cups of milk.... also you will need a couple of tubs of cool whip, maybe about 3 of the regular size... and about 4 regular size crunch bars or a bag of the mini ones... it helps to freeze the bars because they break easier...

for the cake I just use a cake mix and I bake it the night before in a 9 by 13 inch pan and then the next day I cut it into about 1 inch squares....

Hi all-

I am trying to speed up some things on the server and when threads get this long they can stress things a little behind the scenes. When possible can someone recreate this thread (put a link to the new thread in this thread please) and PM me? :) I will close this thread and new posts will go in the other.
