Dr Phil is funny.... he has this 18 year old chick on who ran away to the Middle East to be with a guy she met on Myspace.. Dr. Phil questioned the guy about getting a visa to come over to the US and he said all you have to do is go to the Embassy, fill out the paperwork, have the interview and then get the visa :blink:

Oh come on, Tash ;) You love it too, you know it!

Yummy cookies, fairy lights and candles everywhere, the smell of the christmas tree, mulled wine, egg nog, carol singers, advent calendars...it's the best time of the year! It's cold and gets dark early and you snuggle up on your sofa, have a cup of tea and some cake and watch a movie. Perfect!

38 days, people, 38 days!!

And Jasman, yes I think that was me - that was soooo loooooong ago!

Does anyone know where I can buy firewood?

We bought a little outdoor pit last night and plan to light it up tonight. We bought some starter logs but I need to go buy a bundle of logs to burn.

Do hardware stores usually carry bundles of wood?

depends. i'd suggest you check the local paper. firewood sold at gas stations and hardware stores is ungawdly expensive. even if you burn only 1-2 times a year, i'd suggest getting something like half a pickup load of wood, overall it would be way cheaper per piece of wood.

make sure the firewood isn't something crappy like cedar or another softwood, they burn fast and pop alot which could be a problem depending on your floor. oak (and most other hardwoods) don't pop and burn long and slow. find out what other types of trees in your area are not good to burn too. around here there is a tree called a hedge tree (in texas we call it a bodark or horse apple tree) and it burns way too hot, it can melt the stove and start a house on fire.

Neil works at a lumber yard and they sell an entire truckload of their scrap wood that has been kiln dried for $20. If you have one near you you might check there. the only downside is you have to load your truck up on your own BUT you get to pick what you want too
