DQ'd but do not meet income requirement!? Help!

We got DQ's today. I went to open my messages in our NVC account, but could not open them so I called instead. The lady I spoke to said the message is to show that I do not meet the income requirement. I recently moved to the US to start earning US income to sponsor my husband. I attached my offer letter, a letter from my employer stating again my salary and that I can add my husband to my health insurance asap, as well as all of my pay stubs since I started (only 2 months worth).  I also attached my NZ income tax return/pay slips which show my income is in the same industry and the incomes are both comparable in US dollars. I also put in a note that my husband will bring additional pay stubs to the interview. I make over 3x the minimum requirement for a household of 2.

I am panicking a little bit because we have absolutely no one to use as a joint sponsor. If this does not work out, then I have to move back to New Zealand, which I am unable to due to medical reasons. Has anyone had a similar issue and got the visa approved?

While I can't answer your question directly if you just got DQ by the time your husband actually has the interview you would have several more months of pay stubs.  I'd accumulate them as lonng as you can and a month before the interview send him a FedEx or UPS envelope with all of the pay stubs.  If it's another 6 months that gives a better and possibly more reliable snapshot of your real income.

Thank you for your response. We are hoping that my paystubs that I am able to accumulate and offer letter will be enough.

Had the same thing happen to me. Only difference is that I am living abroad with my husband.

I also couldn't open the msg and had to call. This is what I was told:

They reviewed my documentation and they believe a joint sponsor MAY BE necessary. It will be up to the officer who does the interview.

I went ahead and got one, just to play safe.

If you really have no one, I would do what was suggested above: gather ALL evidence and really prove your income at the interview.

I wish you the best of luck!
