It could be because, they don't think they will be open to non-essential interviews by then....or they could be prioritizing spousal visa interviews.  Please update this thread if you get more info.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

I don't think any embassy has opened for normal operations yet. Only mission critical (spouse/children of USC) visa interviews are done, and re-schedules and expedites have preference in embassies that resumed interviews.

I don't think they will process K1s until the travel ban is lifted for the UK AND the March suspension of routine visa services is lifted: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/News/visas-news/suspension-of-routine-visa-services.html .  The latter seems to apply to all countries.  So even countries with low covid cases like Taiwan or NZ are also not meant to be processing visas?  I think this is just anti immigrant politics.

Also they incorrectly said it was part of the labor ban EE instead of the March one

They quoted Trump's labor ban in a separate email

How would that affect K-1s?

It doesn’t, but k1s are affected by the March EO banning travel from the uk. You can find up to date info on k1 processing at the London embassy here, k1 info is towards the bottom: https://uk.usembassy.gov/information-for-nonimmigrant-visa-applicants-following-the-coronavirus-covid-19-outbreak/
