K1 "Passport Style" Photos (Check?)

Hi all!

I've read many things about submitting passport style photos for the I-129f petition. I've already spent over $20 trying to get them done at the local CVS (although they didn't seem too experienced.) There are a couple things I was worried about and I've heard conflicting views...

White vs. Off-White Background

My fiance has an off white background that looks kinda beige when I picked them up...I retouched the background and I just wanted to know if this was the safer option? (I need to get them redone with a glossy finish. Looks like they don't accept matte anymore)

Ears or No Ears

His ears are perfectly visible, my ears are not. I tried to tuck them behind my ears before the woman took the photo, but there is one that is not super visible. Do I need to get them redone again?

Too dark

My fiance took his by himself, and he has a large amount of stubble on his face. I just wanted to know if it looked too shadowy! I might be overthinking it, but it couldn't hurt to ask.

you can have them in white or off white background. no issues as long as they are clear and meet DOS requirements. Your picture must be of higher quality. Its kind of blurry

Thanks for the tip! I snapped a picture of my photo using my phone from far away for this post, so I'm not surprised it's blurry. I was mostly just worried about the conflicting views I've heard about the ears being more important for visa purposes than passports. Also the efinition of "off-white" since the photo printed must darker. I'm probably just overthinking it.

Me and my fiancé’s photos were taken with the same color background as your middle photo. You also couldn’t see my ears in my photos. We had no issue. :)

Thank you so much! It’s hard not to worry given some of the horror stories, but that makes me feel much better. (Although my photo is less than stellar xD)

The ear part is my biggest concern, actually. I've seen it be hit or miss with an ear hidden. All depends on how picky the person wants to be.

I know what you mean! I was really concerned about the background on ours but we didn't get an RFE :)

In my opinion, all of those photos will be rejected.

I recommend that you both shave your heads so your ears are visible. Also, your fiance should have his facial hair waxed. I would then grease his face so it is shinier. He may also want to think about a tuxedo.

The background color should be #16 glossy eggshell white. Anything else, and USCIS will deny the application, keep your fees, and bar you from applying again for 1 year.
