Can an F-1 student live in the US without a address under his name?

Hey all,

 

My title/question may have sounded  confusing so let me explain better. I am currently  "working" under F-1 OPT and I'm leasing an apartment by myself, but I wanted to move in with a friend so that I'm able to save more on rent; he has a spare room which is not being utilized. His leasing agreement has already started, so If I moved in, my name would likely not be on the original leasing agreement. Does anyone know if I would be in violation of my status, if I moved in with him and didn't have a local U.S. address with my name on it? I would obviously update all my addresses on SEVP portal and school portal to reflect the changes, but I wouldn't be "officially" under that residence... I see this as a sublease situation... Any ideas?

2019/02/28 - Submitted I-765 Application

2019/03/01 - Received by Potomac Service Center

2019/06/06 - Denied (I submitted the wrong I-20, my mistake)

denial letter only came in the mail on 2019/06/13, dated June 6th. Case Status page was only updated on June 28th, ridiculous I know.

Total: 95 days.

2019/06/23 - New I-765 Application Submitted

2019/06/28 - Received by Potomac Service Center

2019/08/13 - Expedite Request Submitted

2019/08/14 - Expedite Request Denied

2019/09/12 - New Card Is Being Produced

2019/09/13 - Your Case Was Approved

2019/09/16 - Card Was Mailed To You

2019/09/17 - Card Was Picked Up By United States Postal Services

2019/09/18 - EAD in hand!

Address is not a requirement as long you maintain a valid F1 status
