You're about ~14 days behind me so hopefully should get a letter in the next week or so. I've got my appointment tomorrow and got a letter about 10 days ago - my ASC reopened July 13.

Very quick appointment today - more time was spent on waiting than the actual appointment. Weirdly they only took one fingerprint (index), my photo, and signature. There were quite a few other people at the ASC (around 13-14(, mainly families with lots of kids.

We'll see how fast things move from here...

Followed up and called today after not seeing any updates on my cases - Tier 1 agent was able to confirm my biometrics were "received" from the ASC. I was kind of concerned in case they had messed up given that one of my biometrics notices (I weirdly received 2) had code 2 and the other had code 3. So hopefully everything is moving along and all I have to do is wait...

For 485, it should be code 3 with all the fingers.

I am little confused between code 2 code 3. The one I have received is code 2 which includes both 485 and 765.

Consensus appears to be that Code 3 is a requirement of AOS as they need to run a background check on all ten of your fingerprints with the FBI. Code 2 seems to be a verification of "this person is who they say they are" but might not be enough to run the background check.

I'm hoping that best case scenario I don't need the background check because I've done ~5 other US visas before and have also gone through background checks for Global Entry/TSA Pre. Worst case scenario nothing with any of my cases will progress until someone at USCIS realises I haven't done Code 3 biometrics and sends another biometrics letter...

Thanks for the brief explanation, this really helped to understand the difference.

I am assuming since my AOS application is through fiance visa, i have gone through detailed verification check in the recent past so may be another one is not required.

So I sent in my AOS in Mid May, case was received and cheques cashed on May 28th, 2020. I got an RFE for the medical I-693 which I didn't include in application.

Besides that, no other news. No biometrics appointments yet.  I know CoVid affected a lot of this, and some people get it processed faster than others, but I was wondering if it's too early to call, and who I would call?

Or just stay patient, which is hard to do.

Hi Paul, no I'd say you could call them, try 800 375 5283.

You'll most likely have to wait on hold for 30 minutes to end up talking to someone who knows less than you about what's actually going on at uscis. They usually ask you to give your A number or receipt number and they check and tell you "we've received your case but the office were closed so you should wait 90 days from office reopening to expect your biometrics". Never fails.

Then you ask more question but you end up bothering them even more because you know .. how could you expect them to give more than the bare minimum?

I've called 3 times and always ended up more frustrated than before the call so I stopped calling.
