No USCIS field office in Dublin. You'd have to have exceptional circumstances and proof of that to proceed with consular processing there. Marrying abroad and living there is not enough.

Then where would those who live in Ireland get sent to? We live in ireland and filed our i130 on line in March. Once it’s approved (hopefully soon) we’re sent to Nvc then to Dublin, correct?

Hello. We’ve filed the i130 March 5 and are awaiting approval. It was touched again July 2 but we haven’t received any type of notice to say our file was moved to another office or anything at all. So I’m a bit frustrated about that. My question is -

once the i130 is approved and we’re sent over to the Nvc, wouldn’t our case then be transferred to Dublin where my husband would have his medical and interview? I was just reading that you can’t have a direct file in ireland and am now confused.

Thanks for any help!

The I-130 is sent to the US for processing. DCF requires a USCIS field office in the country (or exceptional circumstances). I think that's what they were getting at.

No USCIS office = no DCF.

The visa interview is handled by Dublin. Visas are handled by the embassies and consulates, part of the Department of State (DOS), not USCIS (part of DHS).

ETA pre-COVID was around 6-10 months on average for the I-130 alone.

The good news is USCIS has said there has been a near 50% drop in new filings since COVID.

The bad news is they may very soon furlough 70% of their staff due to the drop in incoming fees.

This was explained in your existing thread:

Direct Consular Filing refers filing the I-130 for processing abroad. You filed domestically (you only submitted it while abroad).
