I've just received my wife's and step son's i-485 applications back with the pages attached to i-485 and to i-765 saying they were filed on outdated versions of the forms. All the documents are nicely sorted and stapled :) The package looks somewhat thinner, though still about 2 inches. It also has a green sheet saying that the form was rejected and asking to place that letter in the new filing package.

My filled out i-485 form expires 7/31/2021. Though I've checked - the form available now expires 10/31/2020.

The i-765 form expires 5/31/2020. They still have the same form online.

1. What should I do with i-765?

2. Should I file all the package as brand new, meaning print out all the forms and supporting documents again, or should I print just a new i-485? Each sheet of paper has a data stamp now.

3. Should I place the green letter on top of the package or they want to also see the rejection i-797C? If I need to print whole new set of all documents and not only i-485, what would be the purpose of the green letter in that package?

I solved the question 1. The i-765 we sent was dated 5/2018, while the one available now is dated 12/2019. Both forms expire in 5/31/2020 and are identical, except a bar code on the 2019 version, and a minor text error correction on page 6. I downloaded all the forms in January so I guess they renewed the form after that and someone simply forgot to update the expiration date.

Still looking for help with 2. and 3. Thanks!

2. No, why would you.   They have already started the process of assembling in the uscis's format.   Don't make them do it again

3.  Do exactly what they require.   They do not care about the rejection 797c

YMMV

A piece of advice: always look the latest "edition date" provided in the official USCIS website, not the expiration date.

A form might be expired but still valid if a new edition has not yet been released.

Thank you!

My concern is that there are machine stamps on the bottom of each page, but those stamps are crossed out with a signature on the first page of each set. The attached one is for i-944 for example. Other pages are fine but have the stamps too
