Not at all. It was a genuine question as to what one could be “scared” about.

Yes, it’s a mess. But the whole world is a mess right now. Worst case scenario for the students is that they have to skip a year of studying and come back next year and pick up again. Compared to what sone people are faced with because of this “pandemic” it’s not that bad. I don’t think there is anyone left in the country who has not faced a personal disappointment or hardship because of this.

FWIW I had to miss a year of university and rejoin their following year due to illness. It didn’t cause me any problems on the job market.

I have sympathy for the international students but I am a lot more concerned for families that have been torn apart by this.

I think you're sort of missing the point here. Chalking this rule enforcement / change (whatever this is) as simply the result of the government doing what it does during a "messy world" is a pretty blind appeal to authority and pointing out people who have had it worse or also suffered is pretty thoughtless and tone deaf. "I have sympathy for your broken leg but I have cancer - it's not that bad."

The embassy closures have already halted any issuances of visas for students outside the U.S. The point is there are tens of thousands of students already here who have made housing and life arrangements to be in the U.S. through the course of their studies - an implied promise already made months or years prior to COVID that they would be able to stay in the country to complete their studies. While, yes, there is no contractual promise, this isn't your country, and U.S. citizens come first, the question is, in context of this pandemic where online learning is becoming necessary to be responsible, why continue to enforce this rule which may have made sense pre-COVID but now makes none? Maybe you can take the "outsiders have no rights this is my house" perspective, but it's a damn cold view of the world that completely misses the point of why immigration and globalism is so beneficial to culture and the economy.

Do a google news search, a number of articles. Looks like they just backed down from even trying to fight the lawsuit Harvard & MIT led against them.

I have been using Internet technologies for a long time and do not know any problems

It’s a visa forum not a technology forum. So the topic is about visa issues not tech issues.
