Carry proof of your marriage to your US citizen spouse: https://uk.usembassy.gov/visas/u-s-visa-and-travel-faqs/

If you travel, please follow the steps below:

  • Do not attempt to check in for your flight online if you have an ESTA registration.
  • Arrive early for your flight.
  • Carry as many original documents as you have available that you believe demonstrate why you have been excepted from a travel restriction, such as a Permanent Resident Card (commonly known as a Green Card), a marriage certificate, or a birth certificate. We are unable to provide guidance about your documents or whether copies will be considered sufficient as such questions are a matter for CBP when you travel.
  • You may also wish to carry a printed copy of the Presidential Proclamation itself.
  • Your status will be reviewed in consultation with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officials. Please note that smaller airports may not have CBP officials on site.
  • If applicable in your case, your ESTA will be reinstated in order to allow you to board.

You'll also need "proof of a negative COVID-19 test or documentation of having recovered from COVID-19" before returning to the US: https://www.cdc.gov/quarantine/fr-proof-negative-test.html

I know that CBP officers can be quite harsh sometimes. it just doesnt make sense to be in trouble when you travel on i131 when the purpose of that card is to travel. I have heard of one person having issues of getting back to US on that card but I have no idea what was the reason for it.

Were they denied entry? Or did they still enter?

AP travel is very low risk. Even those that have "worse" circumstances have used AP without issues. For example, many TPS individuals that Entered Without Inspection (i.e. illegally) have traveled abroad and returned with AP.

It's been over a month since biometrics and I still haven't gotten an update on my EAD... I even filed a request with the USCIS which they were supposed to respond to on the 11th, but they never did. I really really need my EAD so I can start working because I'm in a bad financial situation right now. Would calling the USCIS again do anything? 😞

@Magda M - I'd also done only Code 3 for 765 and 485. Never did any biometrics for 131. And I got approved for both 765 and 131. So it should be the same for you as well...

@Josh9494 great! how long after biometrics did you received your i131 and i765?

Received our EAD and AP combo card in the mail today. Altogether, it took 213 days from filing to receiving (we did not expedite) which is bonkers to think about as I know in the past applicants received it within 1 to 2 months of filing, but I suppose it makes sense considering all that's happened in the US the past year.

Now waiting on the SSN and AOS interview.

Hoping things go smoothly for everyone else as well.

Status changed to '"new card is being produced" Feb 09

765/131 updated to "case approved" Feb 10. Any idea how much longer until the card gets mailed? PD 07/31 and bio 12/14

I filed i485 back in July 2020, but didn’t file i765 and i131, because I didn’t expect it would take this long to get a green card.

Now my case is “ready to be scheduled for an interview”, but I have no idea when I can get scheduled.

Do you recommend me to apply for the combo card now? Will it be faster because I already had my fingerprints taken?

Or should I just wait for my interview for the green card. Thanks!

I filed for both travel and work authorization with my i485 and still didn't get them, even though I already have my interview schedule for the next week, so it's not guaranteed 765/131 would be faster. After my case updated to “ready to be scheduled for an interview" it didn't take long until the interview was actually scheduled. Good luck!

From what I understand, when your case says "ready to be scheduled for an interview" it means that your application has been reviewed, they have found everything to be in order and sent it to your local USCIS office for an interview.  Then it depends on your local USCIS office's schedule on when you will have your interview.  Many people are starting to get their interviews scheduled, but we are in NJ and from what I understand, our Newark USCIS office is one of the longest wait times.  So the earliest I imagine an interview for us would be this fall, if we are lucky.  Most likely it could even be another year of waiting until we have the interview 😪 (I love NJ but sometimes it can cause some frustration lol)

So it might be a good idea to check where your local office is and then check out visajourney's immigration timelines and processing times for that specific location.  And also I follow some facebook groups that I keep an eye on when people have interviews in Newark and see what their priority dates/file dates were too.  They are always over a year for Newark.  So who knows, maybe we will be lucky and get an interview next month, but I am not counting on that.  I hope your local office has a better estimated timeline than ours :)
