Filed my AOS end of November 06... Bios were done in December.. and then nothing nothing nothing for months and months and months...

We use an attorney. He had told us we should be done in about 4 months. Now... 7 months later... we finally get our interview letter...

My question is... Is it bad news that it took so long?

The online status kept saying our application was received .... no touches or anything till 2 weeks ago when we were told our apointment was canceled... but we had no appointment  ... then we got the appointment letter and then CRIS emailed us saying "We have received you application on November 29 blablla"

It's just really odd... still says that even if we are scheduled... I am a drama queen and worry all the time (least I am honest) so this makes me panick like you wouldnt believe... I picture them telling me I am being detained and deported back to Canada... even tho I am not a criminal and did everything as I should! :crying:

I never want to have to go through this much stress again!

Any Input/Suggestion would be appreciated! :help:

Our AOS took 9 months...start to finish. No one could have told us it would take this long as each case is individual. That's not to say we didn't get tired of the process, the wait, watching others fly past us, etc. IMHO I don't think yours was a long time to wait - there are some on here who are still waiting, two years later. Maybe the lawyer could have worded his statement better....to say that he hoped you would be done in 4 months. No one can tell you for sure how long this process will take. :)

I can't see any reason for deportation unless you've done something criminally heinous. :) We were one of the cases transferred to CSC so we didn't have an interview. Best wishes on yours, I bet you'll do just fine. Nothing on the USCIS website email notification page will change unless they actually do something with your case. As far as going through something this stressful, you will have to apply to lift conditions 90 days before the expiry of your green card, when you receive it. Not sure if that's going to be stressful as we've not arrived at that time yet. Eh, it'll be ok...that's what VJ is for - support! :D

Nope not an unusual situation. Certainly nothing to be worried about unless you are a terrorist or have a bad criminal history, in which case i dont think you would have received your visa anyway.

It usually depends on your local office as to how long it takes to get an interview letter, originally I was stuck at New Orleans which I would still be waiting since July06 for an interview but I moved to Alabama and just had my interview 2 weeks ago. (approved pending vac sup - sent that in end of last week, now just waiting for approval notice and card) so you see, there is nothing wrong with the amount of time it takes, some are just luckier than others. There is no rhyme or reason to it. Dont start second guessing everything or else you will get worked up over silly things.

Best of luck at your interview.

I will join Karen - my AOS took just over 23 months to process - nothing wrong with it, no requests for information, nada - sometimes the offices involved have a heavy backload of cases to that takes longer; sometimes security checks take a long time; I actually think 7 months is a quick time (VBG)! Good luck at your interview - I am sure you will have nothing to worry about and will get that green card (it's actually white :-) ) very soon.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

lol, Joel got a kick out of his "green" card. He spent a few minutes holding it this way and that to see the holographic images on the back. It was like Christmas for him. :)

Having to wait a long time for an interview has everything to do with how busy your District Office is and nothing to do with your case, I would say.

Getting your interview date is a good thing! There is no reason to believe anything other than positive news.

Thanks Everyone!

I tend to dramatize everything because Murphy's law is always looking over my shoulder!

So thanks for the reassuring words!
