divorced; next steps for sponsor

I sponsored a european for a K1 Visa and K3 for her daughter in 2017-2018 timeframe.  They arrived in late 2018 and we married in 2019 and divorced later in 2019.

As the sponsor, I know I have to keep the address on the affidavit of support current.  Other than this item, is there anything I have to do (contact USCIS or other)?

My ex wife is still in USA, is there any way I can see her status?  If her status changes, my alimony goes away ;)

You were married less than a year and our paying alimony? Ouch. USCIS won't tell you anything about her status. You are going to have to rely on her to tell you.

Finally done...

She obtained her conditional greencard during that period of time? Sounds fishy but it is what it is. You are liable for i864 but you don’t have access to her immigration status or really anything related to her greencard anymore.

Trying to think why her alimony would be linked to her immigration status.

As other’s have said you are not able to find out her status without her telling you.

If she has her conditional green card, which I assume she does, she can remove the conditions via a divorce waiver.

Also, with the I-864, you are responsible for her and her child if they receive public public benefits before getting citizenship. The only way this obligation is voided is if she and her daughter leave the the US and relinquish or abandon residency or they become citizens. The later will not happen for another at least 3-4 years.

You could be on the hook until one of you dies. The affidavit of support is in place until one of the following happens;

- the immigrant becomes a US citizen

- the immigrant can be credited with 40 quarters of work

- the immigrant leaves the USA permanently and abandons her residency here

- the immigrant dies

- the sponsor dies

Only the last two of the above are guaranteed to happen. Each of the other three may never happen.

this is a good response, thank you- what I am trying to determine is if she tried to remove the conditions.  I believe the part where you stated I would not be able to determine status covers that.

Removal of Conditions doesn't happen until her 2 year green card is turning 2 years old.

Based on what you are saying, since you married in 2019, she wouldn't remove her conditions until 2021.

Her choices are remove conditions with or without your help (like you could be kind and help her with any info she may not have and need) or leave. Most people just choose to remove conditions with a divorce waiver, and it's something she never has to talk to you about.

I think the most you could do on your end is call and find out if the I-864 is still active, but that's about it. You're not privy to her status.
