I was unmarried in 2014 when my US citizen mum filed I-130 petition on my behalf. I got married in 2017 and my mum sent a letter to USCIS in september 2018 nofifying them of my marriage and to convert my case from F1 to F3 family preference category. I received an case approval from USCIS in March 2020 and have just received NVC case creation notice.  But I have noticed that visa category on my ceac homepage is F11. Does that mean my case has not been converted to F3 category or should I continue to process with category F11 as on my homepage even as I am married with two kid now.

To avoid paying all fees only to find out that your PD isn’t current yet, I would email NVC via inquiry form and explain that you got married and have kids now, attach the marriage certificate and ask if the current visa category is correct.

Since fees have to be paid before you upload your civil documents such as marriage certificate, I would certainly go the safe route.

Thank you for the response. According to the last bulletin, PD for the current category which is F11(unmarried son of US citizen) visa class is almost current, however category F31(married so of US citizen) visa class is not close to being current. So I needed to clarify which category I'm proceeding with before I make payment. I wrote NVC, but the response was divergent. Response was based on derivative applicant.

Maybe they got confused - their email responses are often not that helpful.

Have you tried calling?

I tried calling yesterday. I was on hold for so long and I cut off. I tried today again but got the response today is federal holiday. Maybe I would try calling Monday, But when its converted, means more years of waiting for PD to be current.

Hi, do you mind telling me what happened? I'm exactly in the same situation. NVC's response to my enquiry is so general and vague. Many thanks.
