F1 visa query

I have an F1 visa stamped in December 2015 valid for 5 years, for my masters degree. I graduated in December 2017 and applied for stem opt beginning in March 2018, but returned to my home country in october 2018 and my sevis has expired.

Now, I have a new I20 from a different school for a higher level of study. My question is, can I travel to US with my old but valid f1 visa and my new I20 with sevis fee paid??
also, I now have a new passport as I had to add my spouse’s name in it.

Immigration journey is not: fast, for the faint at heart, easy, cheap, for the impatient nor right away. If more than 50% of this applies to you, best get off the bus.

It is up to the CBP officer at POE to decide whether or not to let you enter the US.  In theory, you should be allowed in with a valid, unexpired F-1 visa and a new I-20, however since your F-1 visa expires in December of 2020, only five months from now, they may not allow you in with the F-1 in your old passport.  I would recommend a new F-1 to increase your chances of getting in with no problems.  Your spouse is a whole different matter of course, he/she will need a valid visa to enter with you if outside the US.  Good luck!
