Hi,

Oh boyyyyy.

I got my visa issued this week. Yay. It was delivered to the depot today, as I opted for pick up. However, the tracking wasn't showing ready, so I called them and they said, "oh, you can't pick this up, our depot is closed to customers because Scotland is in COVID-19 lockdown still." Okay... fair, but I wish they'd told me that before? I said okay, can it be delivered to me, I'll pay the extra? They said no, because they need authorization from the embassy, but can contact them to see if they can get it.

That was this morning. Still claiming they've had no reply from the embassy so nothing they can do.

I'll fill out the embassy's contact form (it's down atm, just my luck) and try seeing what they can do, but right now I'm very stuck and it was an expedited appointment bc of my husband's surgery so I need to be there ASAP. Wonderful.

Wondering if anyone has any past experience getting it delivered after it was at the depot, or anything? And how they managed it?

It'll be fine. The main thing is that it's been issued. I understand why it's stressful though.

Which depot is it? Mine went through Bristol but this was 3 years ago.

Glasgow. It's perfectly fine I can't pick it up because of lockdown measures, just wish it was easier to get it rerouted directly to me!

Personally I would be scared to get it rerouted, just seems like there'd be more chances of something going wrong!

Were they able to say when they're reopening? This Covid stuff is a nightmare.

I don't have an option unfortunately. I can't pick it up because they have no reopening date, and it was an expedited interview because my husband is having surgery, I need it in my hands ASAP.

Indeed it is!

Oh dear. I'll keep my fingers tightly crossed for you. And all the very best to your husband too.

I'm at a different stage in the process to you but I still have some hurdles to get over, apparently the processing time for my current stage is 800+ days! That's what, around two years to process a few pieces of paper. What the... 😬

Very best of luck. 🙂

Oh geez! Some of these processing times...

Thank you for the well wishes! I'm sure I'll get something sorted, just may need to demand a DX supervisor on Monday, haha.

This is where courier arrangements are made. https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-gb/iv
Once the embassy turns the visa over to the courier, I don’t think it’s something the embassy can fix.

Go to the Contacts page on that website and find:

Document Delivery Issues

The tracking of your document return will begin when the U.S. Consular Section passes the documents to the courier. For additional information on the courier please see Visa Document Courier Services.

Please first check the status of the documents by signing into this website or calling the call center. If there are further concerns or issues with the return of your documents or if it has been more than 5 business days since your visa was issued and a shipping number is still not available, please Contact Us by sending an email to the following email address:

Thanks for the reply!

Dealing with the courier now but they actually did say they need the embassy to authorize an address change (or at least, their contact at the embassy) so I think I'm just waiting. Was just curious to see if anyone else had the same experience. 🙂

The contact I posted is not the courier website. It is the contracted site for the embassy to schedule interviews and make courier arrangements. Seems like they could sort you. Typically that is where you can log in and change delivery options. Since yours is considered already delivered I doubt the online change will work, but customer service might be able to help.

I will shoot them an e-mail and see what they can do — thanks!
