Hi there,

My fiance was contacted by a physician this week requesting to schedule his physical exam. They told him they were advised to do so by the consulate in Casablanca, and we were wondering if anyone has heard from the consular officers that they are resuming interviews. Our original interview was supposed to be on March 25 and was cancelled due to lockdown. Anyone who has heard anything or knows when they might resume interviews in Casa would be greatly appreciated!

You need a document from embassy to take to the dr appointment

so,, email them and ask for it and tell them what the dr said

Primary email ID is ivcasablanca@state.gov

i would suspect the dr knows there are so many on hold as they were cancelled or stuck in NVC and he is trying to get ahead of the onslaught of people wanting to sechedule

If you have any questions about your situation, email us at: info@tnvisaexpert.c om for info directly about K1

Hey guys! My fiancé got the same call. Our interview was supposed to be March 25th as well and was cancelled one week prior due to COVID-19. Which doctor called you? I’m wondering if all doctors are doing this or just one. We haven’t heard from the embassy either.

I would suggest emailing your embassy and confirming before going to the medical.

Please let us know if you figure anything out. K-1 interviews were stopped due to the US State Department halting routine services at ALL consulates around the world. In order for any consulate to process a K-1 outside of an emergency, the state department needs to give consulates some new guidance. If a consulate ANYWHERE is able to process non-emergency K-1s, that could indicate a change in guidance that could affect everyone here. Just a while ago we saw that a few members here from a few different countries were contacted by their local consulate about rescheduling CR-1/IR-1 interviews before the State Department made a public announcement.

I feel that it's more likely the physician's office may have had a miscommunication with the consulate, we haven't heard anything similar from any other countries as of yet. Worst-case scenario is that they're just lying.

There are a few websites that have been updated again, and they don't include the "routine visa processing is suspended" anymore. They also don't explicitly state that they've resumed processing them, but it's super weird, especially since some of them have actual wait times on them again instead of "emergency only". The one in Brussels doesn't have the suspension anymore, at least in their update, but their times are still set to "emergency only". I'm thinking that they might process them again, in places that don't have a travel ban. Kingston, for example, has visa wait times set at 1 day, while Brussels, Amsterdam, Berlin and Paris still say "emergency only".

Are you talking about this page? https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/wait-times.html

It doesn't include info about K visas since "The All Other Nonimmigrant Visa wait time DOES NOT include K or V visa applications, which are processed similar to immigrant visas", but if there's some sense of return to normalcy then that's awfully reassuring. I haven't been checking this page at all so I dunno what it said before the suspension or the past few months. I do see Casablanca here says "Temporarily Closed", Brussels says "Emergency Appointments Only", and Montreal says "78 Calendar Days".

Morocco's embassy site doesn't currently state anything about the state department suspending services anymore, just that "We will resume routine visa services as soon as possible but are unable to provide a specific date at this time", Canada's embassy site hasn't had their COVID-19 page updated in a couple weeks so still cites the State Department. Guess we'll have to cross our fingers here.

I was mostly going off of there being any dates at all, not specifically the K1s.

Brussels' latest update doesn't mention anything about routine visa services anymore, though they do mention having resumed routine U.S. passport and report of birth abroad services.

They probably just forgot to add it though. But still, it's weird.

https://www.thejakartapost.com/news/2020/06/22/morocco-opens-field-hospital-after-spike-in-virus-cases.html

this article will explain a lot  as it was announce June 22nd

and says

The kingdom's borders remain closed "until further notice".

Until the country is able to past phase 1,  the embassy will remain closed as think "how would the interview happen if people can not travel to Casa for it ?

they tried 2 weeks ago to open some businesses and allow buses to run,   they had to back out as there was an immediate spike in cases

Not to discourage you,  as this requires so much patience/  just talk and encourage each other

and keep the romance part of the chats/  to think all the time about immigration and the problems is a good way to kill a relationship

be positive / keep the faith

That article literally doesn't explain anything about physicians contacting people for K1 medical exams though.

it says the country is still closed as the borders are closed /  borders are closed and governement offices are closed

my husband watches the Moroccan news every night when he comes home from work,

Nothing is able to move past the initial phase /  they tried to get people to return to simple "take out food" phase and use buses and had to back off and return to "stay at home"

the Sunday market places where all buy food and spices (very important in Morocco) are still not running

the strawberry fields where pickers should be busy now are empty

This is from most recent US embassy Casablanca

When will the Consulate General resume routine visa processing, such as student visa processing or B1/B2 tourist visas?

We will resume routine visa services as soon as possible but are unable to provide a specific date at this time.

I'm not saying it wasn't informative, just that it wasn't relevant to what they posted.
