Is your case an Eb2 visa as stated? I am an Eb 1 DQ sep. 24 2020! Is the embassy scheduling other EB cases apart from E3?

It's my daughters.  IR2

Gather everything...and I mean everything. Prepare yourself like you are preparing for KCSE exams. Marriage certificate, Joint property documents, whatsapp messages, beba shared nudes if you have to...you better be over-prepared than underprepared. Alafu go through the 70 common questions that they ask at the interviews. Jua your spouse's details like you would know your mpesa balance.

This isn't what they say to bring with you.  They say to bring:

  1. Appointment Letter – The interview appointment letter you received from NVC.
  2. Passport – For each applicant, an unexpired passport valid for six months beyond the intended date of entry into the United States
  3. Photographs – two identical color photograph(s) for each applicant, which must meet the general Photograph Requirements.
  4. DS-260 Confirmation Page
  5. Supporting Documents – original or certified copies of all civil documents you uploaded into CEAC."

Why would you need to bring all your whatsapp messages and what not since this would have been submitted during the I-130.

I'm more asking out of curiosity.  Between the I-130 and the NVC documents, there are hundreds of pages of information.  That's alot to lug into an interview that's probably not going to last more than 30min.

Finally!!! I can do the happy dance...🎊🎈🎉...We passed, or should I say he passed.

Update: He started early so we did a quick video chat right before he got in. He was there 30minutes early. There seemed to be only few people at first but then more people showed up later.

Anyway, the person interviewing him asked him few questions regarding our relationship etc. and then went on to ask why he needs to be in US urgently. The whole process took less than 2 hours and he was approved. They will be sending his passport and other documents to the location we picked for the courier. Phewww glad this mess is over. Now we can book a ✈️

As for talking to others to get an idea of people’s statuses, he said it was nearly impossible because of the restrictions placed forward for social distancing. He did talk to some few folks who left the embassy the same time as he did but they were non-immigrant visa with an emergency to fly out for medical reasons.

Could you please explain how you got the interview expedited?

Good Morning,

Anyone know how to contact the immigrant visa section? All numbers I have tried lead to no where.

I communicate with emails.  They usually get back to you.  Emails are better than phone calls .

Thank you, they have not replied in 2 weeks so was not sure.

How comes? They must have missed the email. You can politely resend them an email because they usually reply mine in two to three days. I had an issue so have being emails back and forth for three months and they actually communicate.

Hope you get help.

Since last update this has happened. We frantically started trying to get in touch with IOM for medicals. My wife ended up going there. The good thing is that they gave us the current numbers for IOM which are +254 722 1000 ext 601/ 602 / 603 / 604 / 605 and 0709890000. (Those coming after this save those numbers). Medical test and vaccinations were done on the same day (25th June) and the total costs was Ksh 35K. She paid via MPESA. Meantime we setup the courier pick up point. Surprisingly, they asked we upload the latest taxes and W2s (2020) via CEAC portal. That request was done via email.

I flew in to Nairobi on Sunday night and on the interview day, yesterday we both got there at around 6:15am. We parked out some Warwick building next to the entrance. It's a public parking paid to Kanju (Ksh 200) though the GSU will seem to look like they run the place. They never sumbuad me after the kanju lady did her rounds since now the parking was paid for. She went in at 6:45am for her 7:30am interview. She left all electronics with me and just docs needed for the interview. She got done around 11:15am. I was so excited to see her walk up to me with a huge hidden smile (mask ofcourse). I knew one part was done.

As per her the docs asked for were civil docs (Marriage, birth cert etc) and most notably the latest Police certificate of good conduct and of course the PP. They asked for the small marriage cert (The Kenyan one issued and signed by witnesses, if you did a Kenyan wedding). That was done first by some staff, then the interview followed after some long wait now with the consular officer. Questions asked were -: how we met, when she saw me last, kids and I think that was it. She was told her visa is approved handed a note to that effect on DHL courier info (pick up) and another on paying the $220 USCIS fee for the green card.

Now waiting for the status to change from "ready" to "issued" then wait for DHL. Hope above info will be helpful to those that follow

Based on the other post where I asked, it takes about a week to get an appointment

Our experience was we got the interview email on Thursday 17Jun, got through to IOM on Wednesday 23Jun and we did the medical exam on Friday 25Jun. So one week is kind of accurate.

  • 06/26/2019 - I-130 priority date
  • 01/08/2020 - I-130 approved
  • 04/02/2020 - DQ (Documentarily Qualified )
  • 07/07/2021 - Interview in Nairobi Kenya (approved)
