Hi,

Does anyone know how long it takes for the consular/embassy to send an appointment letter with instructions? Our case is now showing “in transit” and we received an email stating that we should wait for an email from the consular office with instructions for an appointment. I don’t want to get too excited and get disappointed again like last time (coz they cancelled our appointment last month tentatively).

Your case will arrive by the end of this week and you should be able to schedule an appointment that is not more than about 3 weeks from now.  They usually give you a 2 week window for interview scheduling

When was your DQ?

March 1st 2020... Our first appointment got cancelled. (That’s why I am being very cautious this time around and don’t want to get my hopes up). I guess they really wanted to make sure that they focused on the priority date and not skip others? I am not sure. It’s all so confusing.

Also, the email says to wait for consular office for an appointment yet the status page says that nvc has already scheduled the appointment.

Who knows what is going on with the DQs versus when they are being sent to the NVC.  I've heard of CR1/IR1 people with April 2020 DQs getting interviews in April 2021 with regular processing, yet others with DQs from Feb and March are still waiting.  They say "first in and first out," but they don't seem to be doing that.

From what I understand, they should email you a link after your case physically arrives in Kenya where you can go in and pick a date from a list of available schedules.

They DHL the cases over, so it will be a few days before it arrives and then is routed to a CO.  If you are worried, I'd call or email the embassy.  Now that your case is in transit, the embassy will give you real information and not a boiler plate response.

Sorry to hear you had your appointment cancelled I can relate. But you're on the home stretch in a week or 2 you'll receive a date, that could be anywhere between 3-4 weeks later. Keep hope alive, gather all your documents together, it won't be long from now. All the best.

Quick update. I got to the US 04/23. POE was smooth. Waiting for green card and SSN hopefully it won't be long. Praying for everyone still in this process. Keep hope alive, you're almost there. God bless.

SSN will come after 5 days. Pretend that you are a fool and call them to find out about the SSN.

Thank you ShuJosh and welcome. Which state did you go to if you don’t mind me asking?

Everyones inputs are much appreciated. It’s actually for my hubby. I desperately need him here before my due date. If it’s about a month or so then I am guessing end of May? That’s not so bad. I have been waiting for two years, and soon to have our status change to IR1 so, a month out is something I can handle I think.

Start gathering your documents and revise for the interview.

Thanks to everyone for all the insightful information.  Quick question about vaccinations.  Based on the pre-interview requirement’s these following vaccines have to be met before travel to US:

Vaccination requirements?    -- Acellular pertussis
-- Hepatitis A
-- Hepatitis B
-- Human papillomavirus (HPV)
-- Influenza
-- Influenza type b (Hib)
-- Measles
-- Meningococcal
-- Mumps
-- Pneumococcal
-- Pertussis
-- Polio
-- Rotovirus
-- Tetanus and diphtheria toxoids
-- Varicella
-- Zoster

Is the above info accurate? do not want to mislead anyone.  Also if it is accurate whats the best way to get these vaccinations done?  Would appreciate any insight.  I want to make sure my wife is prepared.  Thanks to all!

Surprisingly K1Visas have really progressed. People with NOA2 of November 2020 already have their appointments.

That’s coz  the K1 visas folks filed a class action lawsuit to force the State Department to resume issuance of fiancé(s) visas. Read about the “Milligan vs. Pompey” case. They won, hence all K1 visas have been expedited.
