Kenya Consulate interviews

So I noticed that even after our file has left the NVC and it’s at the consular office/Nairobi Embassy, they still haven’t gotten back to us with an interview date. I reached out to my friend who works there and this is what she said:

“The embassy is back to phase one which means no appointments, limited staffing yani hakuna kitu inaendelea hapa”.

Getting an interview at Nairobi Embassy has become an extreme sport.

Last year I mentioned that we should wait until 2021- I am now shifting my expectations to 2022. This is such a test on families.

This is like a never ending nightmare. I literally have no words. Everytime we get some hope they shutter it. How many more years are we gonna waste in this process 😣

April 3rd. But I requested to have it expedited, I wrote about it On this thread few weeks back.

However, there is a third wave of COVID that has hit Kenya and now the embassy is back at phase one. This has even affected our interview date as we are yet still waiting to get one.

It is extremely frustrating. It’s disheartening that they keep pushing things behind without trying to facilitate the process for families. They should have at least try to counter measure the effects and keep the flow going.

My friend said that this 3rd wave of COVID that has hit Kenya is really bad. The embassy is back on working minutely and remotely. And apparently US government will not provide vaccines to their overseas citizens. Which means the people working at the embassy could only get the vaccines through the Kenyan government.

But this is not good. Before March 15th they were back on full scale. They had even gotten to people from last Feb & March. Now they have gone back to phase one shutdown and only working by limited appointments. Most employees are working remotely. We are still waiting for the interview appointment even though they said we should expect to hear from them by the 17th with a date. It’s the 22nd and haven’t heard back from either the NVC or the consulate. Was on 1hr 36 minutes hold When I called NVC

Hopefully once the vaccine starts to kick-in in Nairobi and the COVID numbers go down,  then maybe they may fully reopen the embassy.

Yeah it is kind of a mess.   If they can prioritize the embassy workers for vaccines, I'm all for it.  Kenya  has only vaccinated like 0.1% of their population or something and at the rate they are going it will be 2035 before they reach herd immunity via the vaccine.

Nairobi just went back to full lockdown....

None of us should expect interviews now until at least June.
