The monthly VISA report came out today and Nairobi doesn't yet appear to be speeding up at all, as some have reported.   I have heard that some had been told that Nairobi really started ramping up in the middle of January. Let's hope this is true and when we get the Feb report, well see a jump.  Right now, things don't look so good.  I made a couple charts showing what's being issued now versus last year.

There has to be something we’re not being told because I don’t understand how other visa classes are getting done while the family ones which were supposedly mission critical aren’t getting done. It doesn’t make sense 😣

I heard on a Facebook group that there was alot of political pressure by the university lobbyists and so now the US Govt is prioritizing student visas since "Out-of-State" tuitition is where the universities make alot of money.

So here is my story. I have been patient but it’s hard am not gonna lie. After being separated from hubby due to COVID for  a year, I went to visit him and my family in Kenya. Ended up staying there for 4 months instead of the original 2 months plan since I got blessed with a bundle of joy.

I have a friend who works as at the embassy and she encouraged me to expedite. NVC was kind enough to send my request to the embassy as typically, had they wanted to deny it they would have sent a generic response message (I know this because I had previously requested one prior to pregnancy and was denied upfront with an automated generic message).

This time it was an actual person that was emailing me. I communicated back and forth with the agency but I think I kinda rushed it coz instead of waiting for weeks for a response I asked them to hurry up coz I was hopping to return with hubby on the same flight... didn’t want carry the heavy luggage and risk my pregnancy. Of course that was almost impossible and I think I gave them a reason for them to deny it. They immediately sent me a response and said that the consular was backed up and will have to wait my turn. Hhhhhhhh. I ended up traveling with an acquaintance who helped me a lot during the long flights and layover (3 layovers imagine that!)

Anywho... I have been back in US and I am nearing term. My friend is hopeful and said that the embassy has increased services and are back to work at a better pace than last year. I am positive in that we will be together someday but I am not as hopeful as she is as far as how soon it will be. I have no family here so I have been mentally preparing myself to have the baby on my own. I like coming here to this forum and just read the threads. Thought I should share my journey with you all. Stay safe and stay positive.

NB/ I have faith in God and His timing. Everything happens at the right time ☺️

Stay positive. A few of us have had babies and raised them while going through this seperation. You can always try an expedite again, especially once the baby arrives.

Has anyone else gotten an update email from NVC regarding interview scheduling?

I'm part of a FB group and have heard of about 1/2 dozen people who's cases were being transferred from the NVC to Nairobi late last week.   DQs are late-March to mid-April.

Received this couple days ago. DQed  June/6/2020

Dear Sir/Madam,

This notice is to inform you that your case for an immigrant visa is documentarily complete at the National Visa Center (NVC) and has been for at least 60 days.  NVC has received all of the fees, forms and documents required prior to attending an immigrant visa interview. Your petition is awaiting an interview appointment. At this time, no further action is required.  We appreciate your patience.

Your case will remain at NVC until an appointment is scheduled, at which time we will send it to the appropriate U.S. Embassy or Consulate General.  We will notify the applicant, petitioner, and attorney (if applicable) when an appointment is scheduled.

The U.S. Embassy or Consulate tells NVC which dates they are holding interviews. NVC fills these appointments on a first-in, first-out basis and is unable to predict when an interview will be scheduled.

Visa interviews at many U.S. Embassies and Consulates have been delayed as a result of the global COVID-19 outbreak.  For the most up-to-date information about the U.S. Embassy or Consulate's operating status, please visit their website at https://www.usembassy.gov.

The next communication you receive from NVC will be either a notice that your appointment is scheduled, or if an appointment is not scheduled within the next 120 days, we will send a notice confirming that your case is still in line for an interview.

Important: The applicant should not make any permanent financial commitments until they have received their immigrant visa. This includes activities such as:
        - Selling a house, car or property,
        - Resigning from a job, or;
        - Making other travel arrangements.

Thank you for your continued patience.

Regards,
National Visa Center
U.S. Department of State

Is that K1 or CR1/IR1?

Strange email.   Why would NVC care if you sold your house, quit your job, or travelled anywhere.

I received the same when I got D. qualified. It's a note not to take being DQd to mean you have the visa or will have it very soon.
