Extension about to expire and not allowing appointments to renew

Hey everyone,

Last year I went to my local office to get an extension stamp in my passport for 1 year whilst waiting for my I-751 to be processed (now on day 814!!!)

My extension on my extension is about to expire and due to Covid they aren't accepting appointments to renew unless it is an emergency.

I called USCIS and I was told by an agent that as long as I carry my expired greencard stamp and last receipt letter from USCIS then I should be ok???

But I also cant renew my drivers license without a current visa extension and I am worried about worst case scenario of being pulled over on expired greencard and license and explaining to an officer who doesnt understand immigration!!!

Any help on this situation would be great!!

Thank you,

Rachel

You were eligible to apply for citizenship last year. Might as well be in line for that, then these crazy immigration hoops to jump through will be over.  My wife started my N-400 as soon as I was eligible. I asked her what was the rush? Her answer was “so you can be eligible to renew your driver license online”. 😂

Sorry about your situation.
