Immigration shutdown

My husband and I are ready to file my AOS so I called my local office this morning to enquire on something , and was told that I can mail my packet in but don't expect anything to be done about it as they are in deep trouble financially and are about to be without half the workforce, confirmed bin the article below,  so I'm now very worried about sending my packet in if it's just gonna sit there because they are understaffed?? Anyone else concerned ???

Thanks Trump 😠

That is certainly no reason to delay submitting your package.........especially if you are going to be out of status......just get it done.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

You are in danger of deportation until you get the receipt for your I-485..you will then be granted authorized stay until the decision is made on your adjustment of status......this is not Trump's fault.  Congress must provide funding....

Trump has been trying stop immigration since he got into office , he appoint Stephen Miller known for anti immigration stance. The Republicans will not provide funding , they won't even bail out the post office . I can accept my part , but it's also they play apart in their anti immigration policy

Yes, the House holds the purse strings and were too busy with "other matters" to deal with it.  Since USCIS is somewhat self funding through fees collected, and with fees down about 50 percent due to the shutdown, they don't have much of a choice, unless employees just volunteer to work for free to do everyone's paperwork, and that's not going to happen.

I don't know if it will help, but keep a copy of the mailing, that it was indeed mailed to the gov, and receipt that it was at least delivered.  If you get in trouble that you are out of status, at least you have something to show you are trying.  I think if you are not stopped for anything, or questioned, you will get by until they send you your receipt.

Yes, he has, but if you sent in your AOS before you were out of status you wouldn't be in this predicament. I am actually really surprised that USCIS told you something that seems so off script. Get it mailed in and wait. Immigration has never been speedy.
