That’s amazing!!! I have see this happen to several people here.

Good luck!!

Yes, I was thinking maybe because CR1/IR1 are now considered “mission critical” visas. While consulates are not officially re-opened, they start processing those. Kind of “expedite for all CR1/IR1” hehe.

Hi everyone! Does anyone know what would happen if we are granted our visa in August and it expires in January, what would happen if there is another COVID outbreak and all flights are canceled and the US implements another travel ban, and the immigrant can't get to the US before their visa expires? Is there any government protocol or exceptions for this scenario? I'm sure it happened to people this spring but I cant seem to find a concrete answer.

Nobody can know what would happen, but mostly only CR1/IR1 visas are currently being processed and spouses of USC are exempt from travel bans. There have been limited flights to and from all countries as far as I know - it’s just a matter of finding the right connection that suits you.

Don't worry it doesn't apply for those with US citizen spouses. Although Turkish airlines has great prices these days and let's in tourist from all over..

Thank you :) we would definitely would go for TA if we were going to travel to US now, but since it's in October we will just wait to see how things will go. :) Hopefully it will be better then :)

Thank you!

Oh it's all not that fast for us :) we both live together in Ukraine so we don't rush going there yet, also I have a work contract here till the end of summer so we can't move earlier anyways.

We plan to get tickets around mid September, since it's impossible to predict what borders will be open and move early October to US. We just plan to go to JFK and then his family will pick us up :)

As for quarantine as far as I know the only way to go from Ukraine to US is by going to Istanbul and then to NY and entry from Turkey doesn't require you to quarantine at the moment. Flight to EU are restricted to people who are citizens or lawful residents or are in a list of permitted countries so it's not an option for us (there might be a way to have like a transit thought EU but since it means mandatory quarantine for 2 weeks in the US we haven't considered that route as an option)

Hi,

Ukraine Airlines has a direct flight from Kyiv to JFK.  The normal schedule for this flight has been suspended, but they run flight every now and then.  The best place to get information for these flights, so far, has been the US Embassy site.   I am not sure how Sept/Oct dates are impacted, but check them out about 3 weeks before your travel date to see if they have anything scheduled.

Turkish Airlines is great.  Well, at least the 2 flights my wife took To/From Boston (to Kyiv) last year.

So my July 28th interview was cancelled.

We received an email with directions from the Embassy on how to reschedule it, and when I go do what they ask, the page says: "there are currently no available appointments".

Has anyone had anything similar happened ?

The country is Ukraine.

Sorry to hear about that.  Makes me nervous about the likelihood of us getting an interview date soon (we got our DQ in June 19).

I assume you are referring to the online scheduling tool at the ustraveldocs ua site.  That hasn't been operational since the routine visa suspension.  I think the only way to reschedule is to by calling them directly.  Maybe check each week, or twice a week?

CR1 visa? 😱 how it’s possible? They have to schedule appointment for you, not you by yourself. So sorry, so sad 😞

The NVC sets the initial interview date, but there is an online site for the Embassy in Ukraine to change the date.   But that site has been showing "there are currently no available appointments" for a while now.

Thank you. Yes I'm sure we're talking about the same website.

I hope it starts working soon and the embassy!

Hi!👋🏻

Have any applicant of Latin America been contacted by the embassy so far? Any signs of life?

Hey David!

We are still waiting for a new date for our interview in Ciudad Juarez, México. I just called the consulate and I was told they don’t have a date to resume regular operations.

We will keep waiting.

but I don’t get it. Why if the DOS said that some visas categories are considered misión critical, and they are working on emergency cases and those misión critical ones, they haven’t contact applicants that are in those categories. Here in Latin America.

Is my understanding from the statement that they don’t need to resume regular operations to start to process those cases.  🤷🏻‍♂️

In many cases the embassies are not updating their information on their websites or informing people over the phone that they have resumed processing of mission-critical visa categories. The only reason people are finding out in those cases is because people have started to be contacted by the embassies to have their interviews scheduled. The person on the phone was technically correct -- the consulate likely has not resumed "regular operations" and does not yet have a date for that. After resuming processing of mission-critical visas,  they won't contact all people waiting at once -- you will be contacted in order of where you are in the queue when they have interview slots available, which could be a couple months depending on backlog.

It is challenging for me finacially to maintain two households while we wait for the visa. I have to send my wife half my money every month. However I'm hesitent to try to expedite on these grounds because I do not want it to look bad as far as being able to provide at the intervoew stage. Could filing an expedite for finacial hardship come back to bite me?

But if they accept the expedite on finacial hardship grounds can the consul then turn around at the interview and say "I see here youre having finacial troubles..."

Hey my friend from Venezuela.

A few hours ago on the Facebook NVC page, someone waiting for the San Jose, Costa Rica embassy posted that they spoke to someone at the embassy today via phone, and they have begun scheduling interviews with half the staff - that's what he said they told him.

No proof of any interviews scheduled there yet, but it's something in our area!
