Just checked the status of our case and it says "READY"..but we haven't got an email yet on the interview date. Is that normal or do we have to book the interview appointment ourselves?

Where are you from?

did you expedite your case?

thank you.

Hello everyone

where can i find my ds 260 number??
i need it to register for interview

It'll be on the DS260 confirmation page that you should've printed

There's two numbers on the page with barcodes above them. One of them will be your NVC case number, the other will be your DS260/ confirmation number

Got this message right after when my status has changed to ready, I tried to schedule an appointment on that website but there is no calendar, so I called the embassy, they said that they will send a request to open calendar, takes 2 days

Has Anyone had the same?

Thank you so much for the response, I did pay the fee so now it's clear. I'm wondering beacuse I was planning to look for a job before I'm gonna enter USA and have things set prior to entry, so I'm wondering how soon after entry I'll be able to work :)

If you ticked the box for your SSN, you should get it quickly and be able to work.  Some employers are pretty good about seeing your validated I-551 and allowing you to begin working before the SSN shows up.

Since February getting the green card has been taking 120 or more on average. But it's no big deal you don't need it. Your Temp green card stamp in passport will suffice for job, drivers license and opening bank accounts.
The back log is effecting all green card production.

Still waiting on mine.  117 days, nothing issued.  We can begin an inquiry after 120 days.

Well the Social Security Number should come 10 to 14 days after arrival. If not Lord with SS office closed in majority of places don't know what you can do. So pray they followed the DS-260 (If you checked the send SS card to address).

You can mail in your passport with your I-551 stamp to get one.  I refuse (my kids need SSN's; mine needs updating to show I'm a PR) because what if I need to travel?  I don't have my GC yet, so I need something that indicates status!

That form is still very new and so the Institutions don't seem how to deal with it. They have so much paperwork to do already.

You don't have to wait after the interview to enquire about an Insurance for you/your spouse.

What most couples do is the US citizen petitionner gets in touch with his/her insurance and asks to have his/her spouse added.

You have to fight a bit on this, because most companies will argue :

- that you can add new people on a contract only once a year and at a certain month of the year (November very often I think);

- and also they may tell you that they cannot do it until the immigrant is not "greencarded" by USCIS. So you have to discuss with them, showing them the official document that the applicant HAS TO CONTRACT an insurance within 30 days after arrival.

Good luck 😉

(I have seen no one on Visa Journey who had to show it during the interview at the Embassy)

If you've filed a joint income tax return, the non-US spouse was likely assigned an ITIN (tax number).  You can often use it when the health insurance company insists on a social and update it later.  That's how we had to put my kids onto hub's plan.
