Hello everybody, today I got a notice stating that the local embassy accepted my request to expedite my wife case. Now we just have to wait for embassy to resume visa services. 20200721_065936.thumb.jpg.904d2f29ac7cc176af6413a55afd969a.jpg

You shouldn't have to wait for the embassy to resume normal services as this looks like an unconditonal expedite.

I've had both a conditional (March) and an unconditional (July) expedite from NVC. My conditional said "We are willing to expedite your case once the embassy resumes normal processing", and my unconditional looked just like your email, and it said "We will send this file immediately to the embassy"

Have a look at the posts above this to see what the next steps will be in terms of your case's CEAC status etc, and when your case is "ready" on CEAC, contact your embassy via their email/ contact form to arrange an appointment.

Congrats on your expedite!!!

Can anyone confirm about documents to be taken for the interview please? Can all for the petioner be photocopies? Are all civil documents for beneficiary supposed to be original with copies.

Thank you

Husband had his interview this morning at the Stockholm embassy! Because of the short notice we have some things to fix (a 221g with a checklist) but the interviewer said he was willing to approve the visa if the list gets completed.

1. Get the official name change document and an authorized translation

2. Medical exam (scheduled for tomorrow)

3. Send back passport (we had to keep it for the medical)

4. Register on the travel docs website with a passport drop off address

The interview took about 1.5 hrs. We were there 40 minutes early and were told to go for a walk 🙃 (the last time we had an embassy appt, 4 years ago, we were there an hour ahead of time). Once in there he had to wear a mask and they only scheduled 3 people at a time so that it wasn't too crowded. They also had a fire alarm go off in the middle, so everyone had to exit for about 10 minutes.

A woman took the originals from the civil docs and scanned them as well as DS-5540. She also asked him what his plan was if his "Plan A" for getting a job didn't worked out and if we intended to move before mid-November, but specifically said it wasn't an interview question.

Interview questions (that he remembers 😉)

-When and where we met

-When we got married
-How many times have you traveled to see your wife in the US
-How often has your wife come to see you
-Where will you live in the US
-Are you healthy (I guess this is as much as they officially brought up the DS-5540)

Hopefully the rest of the process goes smoothly and we have the visa in hand before too long! And that all of you guys will be further on your way towards the end of this crazy process!

Congratulations!

For sure when you complete what they are asking for your husband will have his visa stamped.

may I ask, because not clear to me, did they asked him for the DS-5540?

Thank you!

Yes, Stockholm Embassy requested DS-5540 when they sent out the interview checklist. We had to upload the questionnaire to CEAC and then we brought additional supporting evidence to the interview.

You should get a checklist from the embassy after you have a scheduled interview as to what is expected at your specific embassy. My husband had to bring all originals of the documents we had uploaded in the civil documents section, DS-5540, evidence of relationship and my US domicile docs (I live with him in Sweden, so originals were what we had, they probably would've except copies for everything except the civil docs). Plus he brought copies of the financial support docs.

I cant find my original post in here.. but wanted to update!!!!!

My husbands case was approved for expedite at the Prague embassy on July 2nd. after what felt like the longest 3 weeks of waiting, today we scheduled his interview by calling the embassy...for THIS Thursday!!!!!!!!!! My heart is overflowing with happiness, relief and honestly some disbelief that it is actually our interview time!!! 4 months apart almost to the day...what a way to celebrate that-by receiving a hope of reunion soon!!!

I know how hard it is to wait and not have answers during this bizarre time for immigration and humanity as a whole...but I am still praying and here for everyone who is waiting for their turn!! It will come, and we will all virtually celebrate your victories together!!! Find strength in your relationship and each other, and find ways to communicate and bond with each other while waiting it out..it is all we can do❤️

Good luck to everyone, i will update on Thursday how it goes!!!

Congrats!! How long did it take for embassy to receive case after expedite was approved?

How certain are you about this?

It's pretty obvious. All you have to do is watch the news. Each country that's opening up their country and airports the embassy follows.
How do you think the CO's can fly in if they aren't open to international plans. Heck they still trying to fly out Americans and fly in Nigerians all over the world.

Now rumor is beginning of the year with Ghana and Nigeria now cancelling all their interviews they rescheduled through September it looks bad for now. All we can do is watch and wait.

I’ve not heard of the embassy reaching out to expedited people to book an interview. If your husband wants something in writing I’d recommend you use their contact form, that way they have to email back. I’ve even booked my interview today without contacting them, but may get in touch to confirm I’m good to go once it hits London

It was most convenient because I needed to give plenty of notice for the day off work. But there were so many dates that she told me “tell us what day you want because we have lots” and I had a ton of times to pick from as well.

I have a question, so when you have your interview being expedited you have to schedule your own interview appointment?

So torn between following up my conditional expedite( conditional on embassy resuming) and asked for them to send to the embassy or hanging fire until the end of the month, as hopefully they should start scheduling to gonwothtghe opening on 27th.

Yes you schedule it yourself online. I’d send you the link but I only have the link for the London embassy and don’t know the one for Guatemala.

But what you can do is email the embassy/ use the contact form online when your case shows as ready on CEAC, and they’ll email you with a link and instructions on how to book
