I woke up this morning to the news that our expedite was approved!! I'm so happy!!

We already had a conditional expedite accepted on March 31st, stating that it would be sent to my Embassy (London) once they resume normal visa services.

Because our reason for expedite was partly time sensitive, we decided to chance it and submit another expedite request last Monday, fully expecting them to refuse it. We noted in our email that we already had a conditional expedite but were requesting it be escalated to unconditional. We also added in why we felt me being expedited was in the national interest which I personally think is something they take very heavily into consideration and is what tipped them to accept it in our case.

If anyone has questions I'm happy to answer.

I hope this helps some people and gives hope to those who are considering submitting another request. I know not all Embassies will reconsider it, but it might be worth a shot.💙

What was your reason? It was in the national interest? I wonder what is that...

Financial burden along with some other factors. The burden hasn't actually happened yet, but we were very open & honest about that and they still accepted it. Basically, my fixed term contract in the NHS ends in September and I won't have a job. I then listed all of my monthly expenses that would burden my husband. I also noted that he's had verbal confirmation that he has to go to Ranger School soon, with as little as a month's notice. He won't have his phone so once he's gone he can't send me additional funds should I need it, and because I don't have a SSN we don't have a joint account I can access. We said that we believe it to be in the national interest because my husband's training will be a force multiplier for the US Army, and he will be better equipped to pass if he is able to focus and not worry about my financial position in the UK. Whether it's in the national interest or not is of course a matter of opinion and I respect those that may disagree with us, but the Embassy approved it so I'm happy.

Thanks for sharing and I’m glad for you.

To write, that I miss my husband so much and won’t have a place to live in September and don’t have a job is of course nothing in comparison with your reason.

If you won't have anywhere to live and no job then that is definitely a valid reason (in my opinion) and would be a financial burden on your spouse in the near future. I know a lot of people are losing their jobs due to the pandemic, but that doesn't make your situation any less valid or important 💙

It really depends on the embassy but our one approved it before the burdened occurred, so there's no harm in trying. I miss my husband very much but we decided to leave any mention of that out of the email as I felt it would work against us if we focused too much on the emotional aspect of things.

I really do hope you are reunited with your husband soon.

But yes, that is what I’m afraid of. Writing about emotional things could turn them against us...

What email address did you use to request the expedite and how long did it take for NVC to reply to the request?

nvcexpedite@state.gov

I emailed Monday July 6th in the afternoon. They replied to say they were reviewing it on Friday, July 10th. Then I got the approval email 4AM today (BST). So just under 10 days total.

Hey,

I received a call from the embassy two days ago to inform me about my CR1 interview by the end of this month, however I have not received the invitation appointment letter nor did my lawyer. Is this normal?

I took an appointment for the medical and they requested my DS260 since I don't have the letter, but I am scared that by the time the interview happens, I wont be having the letter with me.

Thanks !

Congrats! We had our case expedited by London as well (medical/financial hardship). It seems like we are just a week or so ahead of where you are so if you have any questions for what comes next, let me know! 💕

Thanks so much, that's really kind of you!

I'm just looking at your timeline, I'm assuming you expedited before you got DQ as it left NVC only a few days after case complete?

Will definitely be following your timeline too to see when you get your interview date if that's okay? I'm interested to see if it'll be by email or if embassy call to schedule it as I've heard different things from different posts.

Hello all.

We just received our interview date.  Kyiv, Aug 28.   They must have read my mind - I was going to inquire next week about our case.

Wish everyone here the same luck we had with the relatively quick processing and the opening of your respective embassies.

Fingers crossed that the interview doesn't get cancelled or postponed.

We submitted our expedite before DQ but had it approved the day after we got our DQ notice from the NVC. We got so many emails in the span of one week that it was hard to keep everything straight!
no problem at all, I typically update my timeline right away. My husband is calling the embassy tomorrow to see if he can get more information about scheduling, he wants to have it in writing what he’s expected to do. I’ve only ever heard of the embassy emailing but I’ll keep ya posted!

also, you’ll probably get an email In the next few days saying that your interview with the nvc was “cancelled” - this is normal and I don’t want you panicking like I did! This happens for expedited cases because they have to clear out any interviews that may or may not be scheduled so that you can book your own ☺️

Thank you! I can imagine that it was a lot to take in considering you can go months without hearing anything in this process. I update mine straight away too so in the very unlikely event that I hear anything before you it'll be on there.

I'm so glad you said that!! I got this email 30 mins before I got the expedite approval email and was extremely confused, but that makes perfect sense
