I received a general email from the embassy in Guatemala today indicating that non-immigrant visa are not being processed, but immigrant visa are now being processed specially  CR1/IR1. Hopefully we can get on the list for our CR1 visa. So we can add Guatemala to the sites that have started processing spousal visas.

Did you already have an interview scheduled already before the closures and how did you get that email from the embassy, did they have your email address or was it a reply to an email from you?

We got DQ in May and the embassy had already halted interviews, so we are waiting on our interview. I signed up for STEP notifications from the embassy and that’s how I get notifications.

Can you please send me the link so I can sign up for the STEP notifications please? I was so happy/shocked when I read your post in regards of the visas being processed.

Great news for you! I hope this is true! Please keep me updated if you hear more about the scheduling for IR1/CR1 interviews in Guate. Our IR1 interview in Honduras in April was cancelled. Crossing my fingers they start processing interviews in Central America!

Could you please send the link to the LAST EO??? Are the spouses of the USC exempt???

Yes spouses of USC are exempt. The EO does NOT apply to spouses of USC or children of USC under 21.

Here's a question for "After visa interview" - Has anyone heard about paying the USCIS immigration fee only AFTER your entry to US?

Our lawyer recommends NOT to pay it before entering US. If you pay it before, it usually takes longer to get the green card mailed to you because the border forgets or messes up the info about your entry. If you pay after you're in US, the order of your green card will be submitted at the moment you pay the fee online.

Is there any thread about this in this forum?

Question:  We got our interview appointment (Aug 25, Amsterdam), but when we try to register the appointment (as instructed by our lawyer ) at https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-nl/iv ,  using our case #, it says "not ready to schedule".  Is this a matter of being "in transit", or is there something we are missing?

Thanks

I woke up this morning to the news that our expedite was approved!! I'm so happy!!

We already had a conditional expedite accepted on March 31st, stating that it would be sent to my Embassy (London) once they resume normal visa services.

Because our reason for expedite was partly time sensitive, we decided to chance it and submit another expedite request last Monday, fully expecting them to refuse it. We noted in our email that we already had a conditional expedite but were requesting it be escalated to unconditional. We also added in why we felt me being expedited was in the national interest which I personally think is something they take very heavily into consideration and is what tipped them to accept it in our case.

If anyone has questions I'm happy to answer.

I hope this helps some people and gives hope to those who are considering submitting another request. I know not all Embassies will reconsider it, but it might be worth a shot.💙

My Expedite was accepted also in March on the proviso the embassy opened. I’m also DQ now. I don’t know wether to contact them again(NVC) and suggest they ask again.

If you feel it would've be an unconditional if COVID didn't happen, I'd try again. We're both London Embassy so you know they'd at least consider it.

I think they underestimated how long this pandemic would last (as the whole world did) and assumed that they'd be back to resuming normal services sooner than they actually will be. Now that they're gradually reopening they'd probably give it more consideration. I'd say you've got nothing to lose from it.
