It is challenging for me finacially to maintain two households while we wait for the visa. I have to send my wife half my money every month. However I'm hesitent to try to expedite on these grounds because I do not want it to look bad as far as being able to provide at the intervoew stage. Could filing an expedite for finacial hardship come back to bite me?

Not for supporting two households know. Long as you make the income guidelines you are good.

Hello!

I'm waiting for the embassy in Bogota and haven't heard anything. I sent them a message on Facebook and they don't have a date for reopening. My case also still says it's at NVC after more than a month :(

It will continue to say at NVC until NVC scheduled you an interview.

Hello all! A big surprise. Just got an email from NVC for my IR-1 visa interview, scheduled on 7/15!

DQ: 3/25

IL: 7/15

Location: Hong Kong

I had no clue that it would be so soon. Gosh, how can I get medical done before the interview? I also need my husband to send me some of the original documents by FedEx.

Congratulations. I updated you on spreadsheet. You don't need nothing from your husband your original documents is all you need. Don't complicate it. Just get your  medical done regardless if results are ready at interview you need to be there on time.

Did you case status change to in transit or just stayed “at  NVc “?

This is good it means they are are sendin the DQs over

Doesn't work like that. NVC scheduled your interview. It will continue to say AT NVC. Once you are scheduled an interview usually within 1 to 3 days you may see IN TRANSIT. Then once Embassy has it logged in READY.

Need some urgent advice - On the Pre-interview checklist, there's one item:

The appropriate Form I-864 Affidavit of Support for each financial sponsor along with a photocopy of the sponsor’s IRS transcript or most recent U.S. federal income tax return, and any relevant W-2s. If the income of the sponsor's spouse is being used on the Affidavit of Support, the spouse must complete Form I-864A.

My husband is the petitioner and we didn't use any sponsors. My husband's I-864 Affidavit of Support was accepted. Do I need to print a copy of that form to the interview?

That doesn't apply to you. You are reading about people who do Direct Filing with embassy.
If you want a copy of I864 and transcripts tell you husband to email to you.
If it's at NVC the embassy will get it.

Glad to hear people r getting interviews scheduled..

We r DQ-ed Jan 28, 2020

1st interview March 31st - cancelled mid March when all embassies suspended visa services

US Embassy Belgrade, Serbia

We e-mailed the embassy mid June to inquire about the possible interview date, but received a copy/paste reply that routine visa services are suspended.

In the meantime Covid situation is getting out of control in a 2nd wave or however they decided to call it.

I have no expectations for August, maybe September.

Lets stay safe, all this shall pass eventually

Sorry. I have added you to the spreadsheet.

Hello all.  My case is CR1 and it got expedite to post. It says READY and apparently my file is at the consulate.

On NVC website, the email address is only of my lawyer’s, so will he be informed solely about the date of my interview, or will I also receive an email since they already have all my details?

thanks !

Mine is “READY” for more than a week now and I have not received anything regarding an interview, is this normal ?

This is normal during this time. You should expect a significant delay. Most embassies are only doing emergency interviews. In most embassies, expedites are being received but interviews will not be scheduled until the specific embassy resumes. My case was expedited months ago and I have friends and have seen fellow VJers in the same case. Our designated embassy called the beneficiary when the case was originally received and said they will schedule when they resume. If you think you will qualify for an emergency appointment, you can send an email to the immigrant visa Consular section of your embassy.

Thanks for the clarification. For original documents, I still need my husband's original divorce certificate, right? I have printed copy but not the original. I asked him to send me the original by FedEx.

Hello all,

I'm a new member here. I am the petitioner and my husband is the applicant - we are both in Hong Kong, but I am currently working with my company to return to USA once the visa has been approved.

DQ on April 18th and received an interview email on July 7th.

Embassy: Hong Kong

On the interview email, it said "Those members of your family named below, must appear at the Embassy/Consulate General on the appointment date." Bottom of the email has my name under "Additional Applicant."

I thought spouses don't need to attend the interview if it's outside the USA. May I ask what is expected of me there? Will we be interview together?

Thank you.

that is for family visa only

you don’t need to be at interview. They may ask about you that why you are there & not in USA. Come up with good reason. It’s a domicile question

interview is for your husband

Thank you very much! Should I still go to the consulate with my husband? I took a look at the email again and although my name is under Additional Applicant at the bottom of the email, the Appointment Date/Time is blank next to my name.

Would it also help if I get confirmation from my company that they are working with me in relocating back to the US?

it wouldn’t hurt to be there since you are there

Do you have a job? Or are you working from home?

Got it.

And yes, I have a job. I also have a job waiting for me in NY but things has slowed down because of the pandemic. If it would help, I can ask if HR can issue me something to state they are currently working with me on transferring me back.
