Hello,

We uploaded all the documents on the CEAC website including my spouses previous divorce document. They sent us a case review note saying the divorce certificate is invalid and asked us to upload an acceptable marriage  divorce certificate from a correct issuing authority.

Country is Nigeria. The divorce certificate was issued by the high court in the town my spouse lives in. Does anyone know what we shhould do. I called NVC this morning and they referred me to the country specific document finder website and I looked at it but still don't know what were doing wrong.

when a Nigerian divorce goes thru the high court the rules are different than regular court / This is what a gf had been notified of :

A divorce at customary marriage may be as quick as 3 months in customary, especially where there are no contentions. But the divorce of statutory marriage in High Court may never be less than 6 months even without any contention. In fact, a highly contentious divorce case could take more than 2 years to be concluded.

So,  check out the dates and get confirmation that the divorce is actually finalized.  It may be dated by the court but not final (hearsay from someone who says they went thru this and i am no expert on this but look into that as an issue)

the other thing that immigration sees is many documents in Nigeria as fraud

Referencing a book on Nigeria published in 2011 by John Campbell, a former US ambassador to Nigeria, the UK Border Agency Country of Origin Information Service writes "Benin City [South of Nigeria] is a center of the engraving industry, and practically any falsified document can be procured there, from birth certificates to diplomas" (UK 14 June 2013).
