So in the end he believes handwashing, distancing, eye protection, and wearing a mask/frequently changing the mask is your best bet.

 

My dentist is the sort of guy that believes in cleanliness... you've never seen a more clean office. To enter you must wait at the door and be escorted in, sign a waiver, be masked, all staff is behind protective shields, and everyone in close contact with patients are properly gloved, masked, and shielded. You must gargle with a disinfectant solution before the exam. He takes the health of his patients and staff seriously.

Yes.  All of which no one out there is doing among the general public while shopping and mingling.  As he said, it just isn't possible.

Sorry to hear that, but that is the most reasonable approach if one is high risk.  Hopefully you have family to help you, or at the very least home delivery of your grocery needs.

 

In my neighborhood, I am one of the youngest males around.  I have offered to shop for several folks older than I who are theoretically more at risk, but none have taken me up on it. They handle it on their own, all the way up to 80 years of age.  Thankfully, no one has gotten sick thus far.

Thank you for helping your neighbours.  I've learned that pretty much any store will deliver... And I've skipped non urgent purchases. All things considered, we're lucky, employed, with reduced expenses, and more time together at home.  Harder emotionally though, missing my friends and family a lot.

I'm living dangerously this week/weekend.  Down in the Keys with family (they are still here from Boston....since March 22!) and friends on the way.  Let's party!

 

And you do know that dentists and dental hygienists are at the top of the list for workers most at risk for contracting COVID, yet we seem to be able to avoid getting sick.  We must be doing something right.

Because dentists and doctors know that PPE and proper hygiene practice works.
