Does EAD card take up to 30 days to be received?

I know in the approval e-mail that they send you that you should wait up to 30 days to receive your EAD card; however, based on the timelines of the members here, it seems it takes more like 7-10 (sometimes less). My husband is crawling up the walls right now because we received the card production e-mail on the 1st, then two approval e-mails on the 6th and 7th saying they mailed the approval.

It's been two weeks since that, and I know...patience patience patience, but I've never seen an EAD take this long to be received. They cannot tell us which address it was sent to (back in April, we made a slight correction to our address because our transfer notice did not have our apartment number on it), so we're afraid that they messed up our home address and it's in limbo.

Or...does it just take a long time to print and send?

I think we'll give it another week before we ask for senatorial assistance or go for an infopass appointment, but I thought I'd ask the masses in case this is a common occurance and I'm just being paranoid. :help:

It took Claudeth about six weeks to receive her EAD after the biometrics appointment.

Funny, after reading your sig earlier I was going to ask you about your EAD. Personally I would be worried, I'm sorry to say. Generally they tend to show up fairly quickly after the approval notice email, like a couple of days.

I guess there's a chance its still stuck in the mail room, but I think you need to start checking other possibilities. E.g. Name on your mailbox? USPS know you live there? Have you moved during AOS? Etc.

Yes, but it arrived within a week of getting the EAD approval email didn't it?

:( Ah #######.

We haven't moved since this process started, no. Our names have been on the mailbox the whole time...we're both still getting mail here. When my husband called last week to find out about it, the woman from the hotline said there had been no mail returned to them. At least not yet. All of our other USCIS stuff has been received with no problem. I'm afraid that us correcting their mistake made an even bigger mistake. :\

Do you have any suggestions, Dr_LHA? Do you think we should ask for our senator to inquire (we have a form for Senator Durbin that his office sent us if we need help) or should we try Infopass? Will they tell us to come back in two weeks when it's been 30 days?

So many questions. I'm sorry! This is frustrating.

My guess is you'll get fobbed off until the 30 days is up. Unfortunately I doubt that there's anything you can do until that time limit has passed.

Cheer up, it might still arrive! :)

Thanks. Here's hoping!

We just looked at all of our I-797s (2 receipts, 1 Biometrics appointment letter, 1 transfer letter) and the address is slightly different on every single one of them (two of them, it's downright incorrect), yet they all made it to us in speedy fashion. Totally bizarre.

Hate to say it, but that is most likely to be your problem right there.

Some USPS workers are good at spotting this, some arn't. Is the address on your EAD I-797 correct, or is it another place? Perhaps you could go knock on their door as ask if any of your mail showed up?

It's correct on the receipt notice for EAD, then incorrect on his biometrics letter (they say "apt. 4" instead of "apt. 404") but it still got to us okay. They put the same thing on the CSC transfer notice, which is when he called to correct them.

Generally when mail is received by one of our neighbors, people usually put it under your door or stick it on top of the mail boxes. I doubt anyone would hold onto it. It's just annoying because despite it being printed incorrectly twice, we got both of those letters in a timely manner.

I'm sending a letter back to Senator Durbin today to explain the situation. His office sent us a form to use to describe our problem. Hopefully he can get to the bottom of this. :\

My husband has a job now and is working based on his approved status, but they won't actually pay him until he shows the card which is why we're freaking out so much.

Well, it's officially 3 weeks now, so we've brought out the big guns. I sent the letter to Senator Durbin to his Chicago office (the man has about 5 different offices across the state and in DC) so hopefully they will look at it soon. I asked him to inquire about the current address they have on file for us (because I don't want the GC to be sent to the Bermuda Triangle, too) and to change it if they still have it incorrectly (because it's their fault) and also to inquire about getting another EAD sent to us.

Meanwhile, my husband (who is the non-USC) requested an Infopass appointment for the 3rd to request an interim EAD. I know they don't give those at the local offices, but at least we can ask about our address and hopefully get a new EAD.

Who knows, with all of these AOS approvals, maybe he'll have his Green Card before his Infopass appointment. Here's hoping...
