Hi All,

I am at the NVC stage of my spouse's CR1 visa. Fortunately, the USCIS phase went well, but, none-the-less, the longer this process drags out the more my mind races. I am worried, anxious, and impatient. I have had that feeling in my stomach kind of when you hold your breath for too long and then exhale rapidly. I am scared to death about making mistakes on all these forms, I want everything to be perfect, and panic about every little detail. I am trying to figure out how the interview will be like, what will they say, the new DS-5540 and its impact, etc. Fortunately, my spouse is much more calm about the whole process. I wish I could be the same! Not sure if others have felt the same way, and if so how do you cope?

Thank You!

Focus on the positives......ignore the negatives...stay busy...the interview is the easiest part for the vast majority of applicants.

The fact that you've found VJ is a blessing but also a curse. We get to find every little detail about what could go wrong - this is great bc it prepares us for the worst. But it also comes with a tremendous amount of anxiety baggage.

You're on the right track and this too shall pass. This is a small bump on the road for you. One day, you will hardly remember every little detail that you're fretting about.

I can relate to this so well, waiting for the interview to be scheduled I was worried about everything, but my husband was very relaxed.  We had a plan B to live together in his home country if the visa was denied, that helped a little, but I was still nervous just thinking about it.  As hard as it is, focus on other things like work, hobbies, getting the house ready for his arrival, etc. to occupy your thoughts.  It helped to go see him every two months, and of course the daily messages and video calls were important to support each other despite the distance.  This will pass eventually, soon you'll be together fulfilling all your dreams and the feeling of waking up next to each other is worth every bit of frustration.  Good luck to you both!
