My daughter case says refused on CEAC website

Hey guys , my daughter went to her interview at the U.S. Embassy in my country last year , after they interview they kept her passport, we did the DNA last November and we were waiting for the visa but when I check on CEAC website it says Refused. Can someone explain me what’s going on?

How old was she when you filed the I-130? I'm trying to figure out if she is IR-2 or FB-1/FB-3.

Refused can also still mean it is in Administrative Processing especially if she hasn't received her passport back.

If they kept the passport, she is on AP.  They changed that a few months ago where the website shows “Refused” instead of “Administrative Processing”

You can contact the Embassy and confirm

Ok, so if unmarried her category should be IR-2. I'm assuming you're a US citizen based on being in the "Bringing Family Members of US Citizens to America".

The good news is she is not subject to any of the bans in place recently. The bad news is it means her visa was refused for some other reason. They will need to contact the consulate to see the reason why.

Note that 'refused" does not mean they are permanently ineligible or you would have to start the process over or anything. A refusal can be something a simple as they need a new medical because the old one expired.

IIRC, the screenshot (before removal) had the wording indicating a refusal and not just Administrative Processing. I know CEAC updated and shows "Refused" for both cases now, but I believe the text block under that is different for AP versus regular approval.

 

Either way, contact the consulate to be sure where the case is.

It is basically the Embassy changing the wording from Administrative Processing to Refused. if you’re in AP it will remain in refused status until further adjudication is completed. Your application for the visa is still being worked on.
