Filling out Forms: What about fields that overflow (+)

Hi,

Just starting this process and have a question:

What has anyone done about the PDF forms that put a + sign at the end of the field if the field overflows? Do you ignore this and send it in with the +s or what? On one form it asks for a date and the date in the format it asks for overflows?

Thanks,

Merrill

We had the same problem when entering date fields. What we did was leave those blank and very clearly in black pen hand-wrote the dates.

Some fields on the forms will do this too if you try to type too much. If that's the case for, say, the explanation of how you met...simply say "Please see attached sheet" and type it out on a different page. It's better than trying to cram in a lot of information in a tiny space.

I-129F

10/23/2006 - I-129F approved (97 days from CSC)

AOS

03/03/2007 - Married!

03/14/2007 - I-485 + I-765 sent

03/21/2007 - NOA1, Checks cashed

06/01/2007 - EAD card production e-mail received (74 days)

07/27/2007 - EAD RECEIVED (57 days after approval)

11/29/2007 - Infopass appointment - file was sent to a storage facility before it was finished processing.

05/28/2008 - Received AOS Interview notice

07/10/2008 - AOS Interview-APPROVED pending fingerprints

09/22/2008 - GREEN CARD IN HAND!

Removing Conditions

06/04/2010 - Sent I-751

06/07/2010 - NOA1

06/09/2010 - Check cashed

07/22/2010 - Biometrics Appointment

09/08/2010 - Card production e-mail

Good idea !

You can also try using lower case if caps aren't required.

I wrote SEE ATTACHED SHEET a few times because the addresses are often quite long in Brazil. Also, I had many jobs over the last 5 years...etc.

Just make sure you clearly mark the attached sheets with the number.

I had the same thing too. I think it would be better if you sign and date each attachment also. :)

If you are having a problem with the date fields, upgrade your Adobe Reader software to the newest version, that will take care of that problem.

I'm not positive about that. If you put Post-It notes on your application, I'll be willing to bet that you'll get a RFE.

If you are having a problem with the date fields, upgrade your Adobe Reader software to the newest version, that will take care of that problem.

Not necessarily. What paper size are you working with? The PDFs are designed for US 8.5" X 11". This is not used in all countries. My wife's G325As had the date field problem because they use A4 paper size, a little taller but not as wide, and hence the problem. Leave the dates blank and fill in by hand.

interesting topic....

i've got a lot of things to explain in my G235A concerning adresses and jobs.

so how can i proceed without getting an RFE?

should I type on a blank paper all the details with a clear reference to the question and precise on the form (see attached sheet)?

should i use a different sheet for every question?

if you were in this case and went through without any RFE, can you tell me how you've proceeded?

Thanks :)

caro06,

No, you don't need to explain things on the G-325A. Just answer the questions that are asked, abbreviating and condensing as ruthlessly as may be necessary to fit the available space. You do not need to explain your answers, do not succomb to the temptation to put your foor in your mouth.

G-325A is not an important form, it just needs to be there with all four pages signed.

caro,

If you were going to 1 school in 1 location you should need only 1 address line for the time you were there. You do not need to show each separate residence address. See post #5 in this thread:

http://britishexpats.com/forum/showthread.php?t=417607

Forget the internships, but show Adecco. This isn't a resume for a job.
