A lot of people here are saying you can travel. I will say rethink your plans. We live in unprecedented times. 6 months ago we didn't know there would be a ban on spouses of green card holders from entering the US. But now they can't get a visa and if Trump comes back i can guarantee you that he will extend it indefinitely. With a green card if things went to the left you can have your day in court. Not so much with EAD/ AP. While you can travel, i would say pause until your green card gets out

The only reason there are no visa interviews is because of covid-19. It has nothing to do with EO as spouses are exempt.

Not spouses of green card holders. They are subject to the April ban. All am saying is this; just use discretion. Not everything which is good is beneficial and after what has transpired in the last 3 months, weigh prons and cons and make a mature, informed decision.

First sentence doesnt apply to the OP and I agree with the rest. Obviously the OP is doing this as they are here asking.

Even a GC doesn’t guarantee entry - the same exceptions that apply to AP apply to GC holders also.

Why is he concerned? Is he likely to be a public charge or has he done anything that renders him inadmissible? The chances of someone falling onto the categories of being denied entry with AP/a green card are very small.

But with a green card, the worst that can happen is to be referred to an immigration court. And she has her day to fight. Correct me if am wrong, but AP does not offer that. Such difference can make a difference when push comes to shove.

There is not a “ban on spouses of green card holders entering the US”. There is a ban on being issued an immigrant visa in the category of a spouse of green card holder (F2A) until year end. That is a totally different thing. The proclamations specifically exempt from the ban on entry people who have travel documents including AP (specifically named under exemptions). There is really no need to panic from this angle.

You are totally missing the point. Whichever way you want to word it, none of this was fathomable 3 months ago. Like i said and will say again, OP should consider pro and cons then decide.

You said one should make a mature and informed decision. I agree. I provided the information that the proclamations specifically allow for those with AP to enter. None of the proclamations have ever stripped an existing visa/travel document/etc holder of their ability to enter. They have all only applied to those outside the US not yet in possession of such. OP can make a decision based on their own interpretation of the facts.

Thank you for your replies everyone. I am definitely going to be weighing out the pros and cons. I honestly might just err on the side of caution and just postpone this trip when there’s not so much uncertainty going on. Although there were a lot of good experiences shared, I’m afraid to be that one horror story by chance. I appreciate those of you who shared your experiences and insight. I’ll keep everyone updated if I do decide to travel.

Thank you again! 😊
