Signing a lease in the US.

Actually moving back to the US, with a current US place of residence, preferably with a signed lease or title.

Voting in the US, and not by absentee ballot.

The actual Immigration Officer was actually from the US Citizen's home state, even, but we had to convince the IO that the US residence was the domicile/primary residence.

 

Already owned this one US property and had lived there for two decades. But, he had also lived at and maintained residences elsewhere (Asia, Africa, Europe). This held up the visa for several weeks.

 

The IO had even said - "Domicile is the issue here. If I can straighten this out later today, after 4pm, you will get the visa. If not...give me a week.) It took more than a week or two.

 

Finally, we provided another document (related to a position at the White House) and BINGO....visa issued. True story.

Thank you for this info! I’m petty confident I will be able to prove domicile my main goal is to get my own place Nd provide the lease agreement

@gk530 The point of my earlier post was not about who supported our app, it was about once they saw that the US Citizen was in fact working based in America (the  companies are international), along with the address being to our address in the US, probably helped make it all clearer.

 

So, having a job, having a job offer, not just having a place, but actually living in the US...those are what matter.

Not just having a lease, if you are spending most of your time elsewhere. That just raises (legitimate) questions.

So, yes, going and being "home", and returning, and how long you stayed home, go a long way to spelling out where you really live/are domiciled.

And showing your intention to go home, is important.
