Okay! Can I still do that despite not receiving the packet yet? Do people do that? And the “paper” they referred to means the packet 3 I’m assuming? (I already know what’s in it thanks to you sending me a copy 😉) Sorry for the loaded question and thanks in advance.

If you click the 3rd one you’ll get this message 😓, I’ve seen people from other countries schedule it without receiving the letter so I thought I’d give it a try and saw that message and didn’t move forward. Let me know if you find something different, best of luck with your journey!

Reading the response, you have sited you MUST wait for the letter (typically the P3) from the embassy before scheduling or risk the scheduled appointment be deleted.

Just a little experience talking here: Do what do will do. Don't overthink this process. Don't get ahead of yourself. Follow thier instructions and your process will be shorter. Try to cut corners and face the dilemma that you are delayed.

yes I am following the instructions that’s why I mentioned that I didn’t move forward with making an appointment as I don’t find the risk of my appointment getting cancelled worth it, just provided the screenshot for the op to make their own decision. Thank you for your advice & tips, it’s appreciated!

Thank you so much for showing me this! I will trust the process and wait for our letter! Definitely don’t want to do anything incorrectly! I appreciate you letting me know! @greenbaum if I understand correctly when the ds-160 is completed with the nvc it is not yet received at the embassy at the same time correct?

I’m confused. I did not get a letter from the NVC. I called and got the case and invoice numbers. Do I fill out the DS160 now or wait until the case goes to the embassy?

The beneficiary needs to fill out the  ds160 first. Also I never got a letter from nvc either but they received my case anyhow.

A letter from NVC will come but is not released and mailed to you till your case goes to the Embassy whereupon the embassy will update you. But keep yourself educated as the embassy does not always help with their requirements. Never could figure that one out.

You can complete the DS-160, Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application. If you have the PDF I specifically address that questions. It's one that is always asked. Oy Vey!

The DS-160, Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application when completed and you have submitted it and printed off the barcode page as the confirmation then the DS-160, Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application is sitting out there in tech land waiting for you to present your barcode. CO's only have access to a given DS-160, Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application if they have the confirmation page with the barcode from the beneficiary. No barcode no DS-160, Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application for the CO to look at prior to the interview.

I'm trying to track where my case is at at NVC and on the visa check it states "at NVC" where it instructs me to go to my ceac account to ''learn what steps I must take to advance my case''. Only thing is, is that when I log into my ceac account it instructs us to fill out the DS-160 (which we already did). Is it normal for it to be stuck like this for a while or is there some sort of action I need to take? My fiance emailed himself the confirmation page with the barcode and everything

You're stuck at NVC until you see it change to 'in transit". Nothing you can do.

Each embassy is different. Some will allow you to do it and others require you to take certain steps. I can't keep track of all the embassies and who does what when but that is why there is two good tools for you to use and one is the P3 that I sent you. What does it say are the steps to the interview? Then second is the sub-forum for your region or country. Where you can ask others from your country.  Go to the blue ribbon above, select "forums" then scroll about 3/4 of the page down and select the region that most represents where your country is located.

@greenbaum I'm having a bit of anxiety about my Ds-160 form. On the petition number portion of the form we entered the WAC number from USCIS and not the NVC number. Is this going to make our petition get ''lost'' in the shuffle? With it still giving us the instructions ''to fill out the DS-160'' it makes me think that it doesn't register that we already did it? or is the DS-160 irrelevant to when our case gets sent out? I hope it has no bearing because it took us quite a bit of time to fill out the form

The WAC # is what you are to use for the DS-160, Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application form. Relax. Nothing is going to deny you. Once you have completed the form that's it DONE. Nothing else to do with this form until such time that you present it at the interview. Your overthinking.

@Greenbaum I asked the NVC when they might be sending cases over again for K1s and despite my embassy processing K1s again the NVC response said that they are going to be only forwarding k1 visas when routine visa services are open again? Is this indicative of them maybe just catching up with the backlog of cancelled interviews for all visa types? I'm just curious.

There is a large backlog of cases at NVC and none of those will be adjudicated for the visa at the embassy till the embassy requests them from NVC. I highly doubt that the embassy is going to ask for all their K-1's to be shipped at once unless they are a small embassy and their case load is normally much lighter than other larger embassies. I also believe, my opinion, that the larger embassies will take "chunks" of cases and not all of them at once. NVC can't tell you anything concerning when they will ship because they are not "in charge" of the cases and how they are distributed. Only the embassies have that responsibility. My advice is to Trust the process!
