They charged my card on the 29th!!! Have you gotten any other notification from USCIS?? Haven't seen a text, email, or anything else yet. Just the charge on my card.

My lawyer did not send the form where you choose how to get notifications. So, I will have to wait for the receipt notice that comes in the mail.

Oy Vey! You need to give it some time. It takes a few days to a couple of weeks see the hardcopy envelope in your mailbox.

Can I share somethings with you that I learned long ago about this process?

    • "the man with the gold makes the rules"
    • it will take as long as it will take
    • no one with any certainty can tell you when some process will be completed
    • Your sense of urgency will never be equaled to what USCIS, NVC or your embassy demonstrates
    • Your journey is not going to mirror someone else's experience - yours and theirs are not the same
    • They only promised you a YES or NO answer. Never an exact time that their decision would be completed
    • Lowering your expectations will make you a much more relaxed individual

Just a little advice to guide your ship. Good luck on your journey

That's an easy fix. Fire the lawyer. Do this yourself. Lots of people do. Good luck and stay engaged.

Hahaha, you're right! I've told myself once we get NOA1, I'll stick it on the back-burner. Just eager to get that one out of the way. :) I also live abroad, so I don't get the luxury of checking the mail for our paper NOA1. For sure it will be a process that tests my patience...I know everyone feels the same. Just thankful I'm able to live in India with my fiance while we wait!

Hopefully you get the text soon! You are lucky! I would do anything to live with my fiance right now 😔

Found love, thought I wanted this path, two years later realized my partner was not worth all the stress 😁

Well said!  It sucks sometimes not knowing but it's best to not set your expectations too high and end up being disappointed.

Yes I'm really jealous. I haven't seen my fiance since mid March 😭

Me too. I haven't seen mine other than video chat since Feb 29th.  Sucks. I wanted to go back in Oct. Flights are cheap but being stuck in a hotel room in Philippines quarantining myself for possibly 2 wks doesn't sound fun and I would only be able to stay for a total of 3 wks

Yes I was wanting to go back in November but it all depends on if aeroflot opens up flights for Americans, and if they keep the coronavirus testing requirement in effect I have to be extra careful not to get it so I can test negative😕 I've actually already gotten it but apparently you can get it again!

I was thinking of Oct or Nov as well depending on how this covid plays out and whether we'd have to quarantine

There is a service provided by the USPS (US Postal Service) whereby each morning USPS will scan your incoming mail (just the address side of the envelope) and email you an update. It's very convenient these days to have advance notice that an important piece of mail is being delivered.

The service is available to most communities but some are still being rolled out so not all areas are available. Check the website with your zip code to verify your location is available for the service. A person in the USA can sign up for this free service here:

https://informeddelivery.usps.com/box/pages/intro/start.action

You can also use the USPS Mobile app available in the Google play store.
