Another resident, Mitchell Erickson, said he regretted calling 911 when two black teenagers cornered him a block away from his home, held a gun to his chest and demanded his car keys. Erickson said he mistakenly handed over his house keys, and the frustrated teens left him only to steal another car a few blocks away.

Been thinking more about it,” Erickson said in a text message to a reporter. “I regret calling the police. It was my instinct but I wish it hadn’t been. I put those boys in danger of death by calling the cops.”

 

If anyone is put in physical danger, they instead vowed to seek help from the American Indian Movement, which was founded in Minneapolis in 1968 to address systemic issues of poverty and police brutality against Native Americans and has been policing their own communities for years.

They're free to make their own lives miserable, I'm perfectly happy with that, just don't screw with others', oh, and please don't move. Need to stay right where they are and experience the results of what they wanted.

 

Experience, history, heuristics, even research all perfectly explained why their approach was purely idiotic, but some people need to experience it for themselves. This is why its imperative to live around people who aren't morons and can be happy with what they have.

Somewhere and sometime in the mid 80's, traveling the world, I stopped asking what I was being served.   I just say "I'm allergic to nuts and lactose intolerant".  Pray for the best.   Last year I was in Mongolia, had horse.  Didn't know which plate it was on.  Had beef and sheep and goat too.  Couldn't tell which dish was beef versus horse.   I would have expected the horse head soup to be horse.   Korea - I know we had dog.

I know what you mean.  Although not as well traveled as yourself, I have been around a bit.  Definitely had dog in Korea, not by choice, and not in one of those special restaurants, but definitely dog.  Goat in Monterrey, who knows in Ningbo, I will try anything once.  I would love to go to Mongolia at some point.  I have been trying to get the wife to go down to Tuva, but she keeps saying it is like the East side of Detroit.

It was a quick 36 hours on the ground  15/20 minute presentation, but I was the sole representative from the western hemisphere to the first ever "Network Operators Group Conference"   www.nog.mn  25 hours flying to, 36 hours there, 6 hours in Hong Kong and then 19 hours home. Definitely worth it though.  Nice T-shirt.  I was going to go back for week this spring, but you know.
