Where did I say they deaths  had spiked?  I agreed with Oriz that was the matrix to watch, and the next 10 to 14 days would be tell the tale. I have made several pots about death rates not spiking with new cases. We are talking about increased testing vs infections.

Of course the new cases are rising.  Even if we had stayed locked down, they would rise as we test more.  But if you combine an opening with more testing, the numbers will rise even more.  ESPECIALLY when the younger, 20-35 crowd, think they are bullet proof.

Read. As i have posted many times the rise in cases is much greater than the increase in testing. In the above article new tests are up 40% and cases are up 118%. (GA) Just like the article i posted from the Tampa paper that showed new cases far out paced new tests.

So we are saying the same thing, finally.  Except I came at it from the idea that deaths are down, and that's a good thing, while you have been saying cases are up.  As I have said all along, the rise in cases is statistically insignificant.  In fact, I would postulate that the rise isn't all that great; there were positive cases out there all along and we just didn't know it.  As some of us here have been saying for a month or two now.

 

Either way, if cases are going up, and deaths are flat or going down (as in GA), that is great news compared to the past two months.

We will know for sure in a week or two.we have had almost 4500 new cases in 2 days. About the same number we had the whole 1st week of june.  As I said testing only up 40% but cases up 118%. We are in a sharp uptick in cases.

Here's what I'm watching primarily 

 

 

Those are global. While it has been slightly ticking back up recently, about 20k of those cases are now in countries such as India, Brazil, Mexico, Russia, Pakistan...countries that in April and early May did not have many confirmed cases yet. Once we strip those 20k out the rest of us, in aggregate are essentially flat. Most importantly, it's not spiking like we saw in March, despite everyone opening up.
