So I have a case number, but my documents are still stuck at nvc. Its been ovef a month. I called nvc and they said the consulate in Seoul where we are sending them to is not accepting mail packages. So that's why they haven't sent it. I called Seoul and they said they will let the people in charge know what's going on. My K1 is only valid until July 25 as stated on Noa2. Has anyone run into this problem  before or right now? I'm anxiously waiting and getting so nervous.

This gets automatically extended 4 months at a time.

No cases, other than the mission critical ones,  are being transferred to the consulates that are processing visas.

Normally cases from DPRK are handled in China.  It is very rare to see a fiance or spouse from North Korea.

I thought you had to contact the consulate the interview is being held at to extend the k1visa. Also my fiance is from South Korea. Seoul is the capital of South Korea. I should have clarified that in my post. Just changed it on my timeline. Sorry about confusion.

It is automatic.  You can email them but this happened pre-COVID in some consulates that have appointment issues (In Mexico it could take over a year to get a spousal appointment).  Don't be surprised if you get some random reply.

I know - I spent a very long, hot, humid summer there in 1988.  We don't get anyone from DPRK LOL - needed some new experiences.

Hopefully things will calm down there enough for the consulate to reopen.  Once the consulate gets the petition, you do get to schedule your own appointment and don't be disappointed if it is a long time away.  We checked often and got ours moved up 3 months.

My package is stuck at NVC.  It’s been months of additional waiting.  Has anyone hear what the status is for Manila?  Eager to move on to the interview.

Manila is still closed for regular visa processing.  Once the consulate re-opens your appointment will be scheduled if it a spousal and sent out.  If you are a fiance then it will be sent out when they start processing K1s, which are a lower priority for the Department of State.

Thx for that. It’s for my wife.

Exact same experience as you and similar timeline. I contacted NVC today and got the same response that the US Embassy in Seoul is not receiving any packages. Our NOA expires in August, so we'll be in a similar boat. I plan on contacting the embassy again soon to ask for an extension despite the recommendation that it is automatic. I'd rather know for sure then take a risk. We are under the assumption that this will take months to change, so we're doing our best to stay patient about it.

Thanks for replying. I thought I was the only one in this situation. I am going to call NVC later and ask again. I just wish numbers would go down in Korea so they can open up the consulate again. However, yes we just have to be patient about all of this. Good luck to you. Hopefully we hear something soon from nvc or consulate.

Hi,

I have also been waiting on my K-1 petition which is still at the NVC. I have only tried once to contact them by email and got a generated response. I figured the best thing to do is try and wait patiently. It probably says the same thing on mine as it does on everyone's; that it would take between 2 to 4 weeks and also shows some type of deadline time frame. But that has pretty much almost equivalent to months now instead of weeks.

I'm in the same boat as well. Received a NOA2 for my K1 petition in late March but verified that the package is still at NVC despite the message saying it was sent to the embassy. According to the representatives, NVC is waiting to be contacted by the Seoul Embassy to being sending them packets when they resume processing.
