Wow thanks for sharing!
Key takeaways:

- USCIS actually has sufficient funding for the remainder of the FY2020(through9/30) so they are urging USCIS leadership to take actions and not furlough till then, and

- For FY 2021(starting 10/1), they are committed to have bailout $ put into the next coronavirus package for USCIS

FY 2021 is likely also when USCIS will raise the fees they have talked about doing since last year.

Joe has zero activity so didn't bother. Tweeted at Wolf pleading to postpone the furlough.

This is so political. We are all just pawns in the big November chess match. Do they really think we are to believe that at one moment they are broke and then the next they have a surplus? Who is the CFO forecasting and managing those accounts? We are talking hundreds of millions of dollars. What a freaking sideshow.   Mark my word, Nov 4th. 70% of our countries problems will change 180 degrees.

Well, supposedly they only have a surplus for FY2020, which ends October 1st. I agree that it's ridiculous they weren't more upfront about that but if they end up receiving fewer applications, there will be less revenue, which means staff have to be laid off. But the logical part is, fewer applications = lighter workload? So, what is the need for the staff then? Yes, it's terrible to be laid off, but this is what I'm not getting. I wonder if USCIS just wanted to avoid laying people off altogether so they concocted this story to avoid that. Very weird. We're they bluffing about the August furlough to get more money, in order to keep on all staff despite a drop in work? That's what it seems to me.

(FRIDAY, July 24, 2019) – Senate Appropriations Committee Vice Chairman Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) Friday announced the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) agreed to postpone its scheduled furlough of more than 13,000 public servants through Aug. 31.  The action affects 1,109 Vermonters who earlier had received furlough notices effective Aug. 3.
