Seeking Some Input As What My Options Are Regarding AoS. Plus a few other questions

Hi everyone!cuse

I was hoping someone could offer some insight with what my possible options are considering the circumstances that I am in.

I entered the US nearly three years ago on a tourist visa (from Canada).  I married my partner (he is a United States Citizen) in November '17. I entered this marriage in good faith and this was a bona fide marriage.  I have documents to show our name on the lease, joint credit cards and health care in our name. As well a few other things.  When we got married he said would work on getting my visa together, but he never did.  There was always an excuse of some kind, or he had his priorities else where.  I eventually had enough of the lollygagging and took the matters into my own hands.  I took out a personal loan to pay off the lawyer/immigration fees, and as well the accountant fees for his income tax statements.  The good news is everything has been shipped out to the USCIS and I'm waiting for my receipt. I'm not expecting to get my green card for another year or so, which seems like a bloody long time.  My partner has been dealing with depression, and has been borderline mentally and emotionally abusive. I'm starting to realize he has a drinking problem, too.  I've sat him down and discussed the issues I have right now and told him what I expect from him in our relationship.  I've also asked what he expects of me. I'm trying to work on us getting to a better place. Although I'm doubting it will happen, but I'm trying.

I really wanted to know what my options were, or perhaps the best course to take in my current situation if things take a turn for the worse. I looked up the VAWA option, but I learned I cannot work or travel during this time, which isn't a viable option for me.  I have student loans to pay off. I also want to see my parents/friends in my home country, too.

Should I simply wait for my AoS to be approved and then part ways if we don't work out? Is it possible for me live separately from him (but not legally divorced) while I wait for my AoS?  Can I get my work permit and then possible go my separate way?

Also my partner said he is willing to see my visa through until the end if I decide to leave.  Is this even an option?

If it makes any difference, these are the the papers my lawyer has filed:

I-130

I-131

I-485

I-765

I-864

I-944

Sadly one of the requirements to be able to adjust through him is that you have a viable relationship.

Do you have a new boyfriend or is that to soon?

There is also that option. I have had someone say they are willing to help me get my green card that route, and I am interested in them

Though this process seems it would take longer.  I'd need to complete the divorce before I have the ability to remarry again.  Although it is an option.

Well seems your only option.
