Can they see new documents if you just upload them, or do you have to press "submit documents" again?

My interview is Thursday and I'd like to upload something to show my wife's current salary but I'm worried about messing something up!

You can just upload. Your documents have been submitted and accepted anyways (I guess?). I was expedited without even having had my NVC docs accepted and I remember the embassy person just scrolling through the docs. It's just one less document to show them. I think if you have what is needed- like the latest tax return/transcript then that is enough but if you feel like you have to show them more then bring it along. If it meets the requirement though, I wouldn't worry.
I understand the need to bring docs along if there are any issues with the uploads though but bring what's asked for/uploaded only. They only really wanted to see the original documents such as birth certificate, police certificate, marriage license and passport alongside the DS-260 confirmation, passport photos and interview/courier info. I did bring along his tax return info and his passport copy etc which was not asked for. Good luck.

Just keep checking routinely. I work day/night shifts, and would constantly check, even when I woke up randomly and happened to find interview slots open up on 3pm on a weekday. It was random. Doubt there is an option for the embassy to book you in a slot as I have not seen this happening.

I thought the NVC assigns you an appointment date. Is that not how it works?

This mainly applies to expedited and DCF cases although most of the recent interviews have appeared to be booked by the petitioner. Not sure if that has changed. It would be good if a non-expedited and DCF case could chip in to be sure. I'm guessing a lot of things have changed due to the pandemic.

Oh I was wondering about regular NVC cases. We are not DCF or expedited.

The NVC assigns appointment dates for IR1/CR1after you are DQ. With embassy closures and delays, there is a backlog of 4-5 months before they will get around to assigning an appointment.

If you get expedited from the NVC, then they just send your file on to London without an appointment. You may or may not even be DQed.  When the file arrives and London gets you set up, then you log into the appointment calendar and pick a date. There’s not always anything left on the calendar. October has been “sold out” for awhile. November just opened today or yesterday. There is no schedule really, it just happens.

If you are IR1/CR1 (DCF), then that means the American has been living in the U.K.  They got to file the petition at the USCIS office in London and then move straight to the embassy, skipping the NVC. Thus, they also choose a date off the interview calendar and they take all their documents (that you uploaded to NVC) to their interview. DCF ended during the summer when the USCIS office  in London shut down permanently (forever). The last of that group got her interview picked today when some appointments showed up. She’s been checking over and over and not finding anything until today.

Ok thanks, I guess I’ll just keep trying.

Hi there! I have my embassy interview next week.

I am concerned about my financial sponsor's (US spouse's) documents.

We uploaded federal income tax returns for the last three years.

For the most recent tax year, this included W-2s and 1099s.

For the previous two years, we included the tax return but not the W-2s and 1099s.

I am concerned that we will be asked for these, as we don't have them to hand.

At this point, should we:
1) source them and upload them to CEAC
2) source them and wait to present them at interview
3) not be concerned, as we have them for the most recent tax year

I should also add that we have a joint sponsor (my US father-in-law), with a complete set of federal income tax transcripts (not tax returns), as my financial sponsor (US spouse) was below the income requirement.

Many thanks!

So I had my interview earlier today and was in a similar position to you (My US citizen spouse didn’t meet the income requirement so we used a joint sponsor).

All they wanted was the most recent year’s tax transcripts for both my spouse and the joint sponsor. I had 2017 and 2018 available too and even offered to provide them to the officer but he said they weren’t needed. In your case, your spouse’s 2019 tax return (plus W-2 and 1099s) should be fine. It’s your joint sponsor’s income they’re concerned about anyhow, and the 2019 tax transcript will suffice.

Good luck!

Thank you very much, that inspires some confidence. All the best!

If your spouse doesn’t meet the requirement, then no point in proving three times that he didn’t. He is required to present the most recent tax return with W2 or 1099s, even if it shows insufficient income.

Your joint sponsor also needs proof of US citizenship or residency, besides his most recent tax transcript.

Had my interview this morning, and approved!

The only thing they asked me for was passport, 1 passport photo, original birth cert, original police cert, original marriage cert and courier confirmation email. My medical was on Monday so I was surprised to hear it had arrived by this morning and they didn't mention anything about results (I did a drug screen so expected questions). We also used a joint sponsor but they didn't ask us for any documents regarding finances. The only questions they asked were how did we come to meet, when did we first meet face to face, if I had met my joint sponsor, when I was planning to move and why we chose to move to the US instead of my wife come to the UK.

Feels like such a giant weight has been lifted  :D ❤️ Good luck everyone.

Congrats👍... Just over 2 weeks for me.... Seems like a longer wait than everything leading up to this😅
