Just got expedited from NVC. So much tension left my body. Will update once I hear anything new.

We got approved expedite last Thursday and haven’t heard anything yet. It’s been sent to the embassy thought but nothing since. Keep us posted if you hear something soon.

Of course, you too.

Feels so good to have this news. I actually had my medical yesterday as I was in London.

Excellent news, congrats!

What is the reason for your expedite if you don’t mind sharing?

Thanks.

Wife is a medical professional, working a temporary contract in the middle of nowhere with no support. Family and friends are all about six hours away.

There are reasons for me too, but I guess the embassy are only looking at the USC.

Mission-critical immigrant visa categories include applicants who may be eligible for an exception under these presidential proclamations, such as: IR/CR1, IR/CR2, IR/IH-3, IR/IH-4, SQ, SI, certain medical professionals, and certain aliens providing temporary labor or services essential to the United States food supply chain, as well as cases involving an applicant who may age out of his or her visa category.”

It also says this on the UK Embassy website now, making it seem like spouses are exempt on all parts, regardless of whether "routine services" are happening. If only it would get the NVC to send out our cases.

UPDATED: What does Presidential Proclamation 10014 refer to?

Under Presidential Proclamation 10014, which was signed on April 22 and extended on June 22 until December 31, 2020, the Department of State will not issue immigrant visas, with certain exceptions. Exceptions include lawful permanent residents; immigrants seeking to enter as a healthcare professional; spouses, children, and prospective adoptive children of U.S. citizens; and certain Special Immigrant Visa applicants. Please review the proclamation for detailed information. If normal operations resume while this Presidential Proclamation remains in effect, it will not be possible for a visa appointment to be scheduled unless you are applying for a category of visa that is excepted under the proclamation.

How did you manage to book your medical without having a confirmed interview?

So long as you have your case number, you can book it. No problems. You do only have 6 months to enter US from that date though.

Great news regardless!

We don’t really have any reason to try for an expedite I don’t think other than my wife being away from her family by herself - don’t think that would carry much weight though.

As always, hoping to hear some

positive news about all of this soon!

I imagine London will open up after the weekend as we are going into "phase 3". Fingers crossed you get to interview soon

I think this is the most frustrating part - all of the information saying one thing and the lack of movement with everything else.

I had considered contacting the embassy quoting all of the information about spouses being exempt and ‘mission critical’ and asking if they had any idea when they would be accepting cases from NVC, but guessed it would probably be futile so decided against it.

Certainly helps being able to have a good moan on here with people who are in the same position though!

Definitely futile. I emailed the embassy mentioning the mission critical status and the UK's reopening and my partner called twice...same answer all three times. "We can't tell you anything, we don't know, we are working on it., check the website for updated" I emailed our Senator today (NY- Gillibrand) asking if her office could contact the DoS on our behalf for any information. I also don't think this will work but I felt better for trying. Will let you know if I get anything other than a canned response back....

Interested to hear the senators response, if any.

Definitely keep us updated!

I'm really hoping the embassy starts moving on things. With us doing DCF we have to wait on them to send us our LDN number. So we can't even begin to book anything until then. :(

We got approved for a conditional NVC expedite at the end of March (the condition being the embassy resuming normal processing).

We emailed the embassy on Tuesday requesting an expedited interview citing the same reason we gave for our NVC expedite (with it being a time sensitive issue it is slightly more urgent now)

They emailed back a few hours later with a list of 19 questions to answer (not all were applicable) including why we believe my expedite is in the US national interest. They emailed again yesterday morning confirming they got our reply and will review it. I hope we hear back soon.

This process combined with everything else going on in the world is making us more stressed than ever, which I'm sure everyone here can relate to. He's military, I work in the NHS, and we've been doing this visa stuff since Sept 2018. I cannot wait to get this over with 😪
