The short answer is, no, you do not need a GP’s letter to confirm that you have no history significant medical or psychiatric issues, if you are completely healthy.

BUT, you do need to provide a summary care record, even if you are completely healthy. Every patient registered with a GP practice in the U.K. has one - this is a 1-3 page document detailing your immunisations and medical history. A GP practice can either print this off, or if you are registered for electronic patient access (like @T3G) then you can print it off yourself. Obviously, Babylon is a private company and not an NHS GP. Therefore, I am not sure if 1) they are able to provide a summary card record and 2) if this would be accepted by Visamedicals. Your best bet is to give both parties a call/email and ask. If the answer is no, register with a local GP and ask for a print out of your summary as soon as your registration is complete.

Thank you.

"GP at hand" is, technically, an NHS GP surgery listed on "patientaccess.com", and plugged into the NHS IT records.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to request a summary care record through either the "GP at hand" app or "patientaccess.com" website.

For those wondering, GP at Hand will respond to a request for a summary care record within 30 days. Thanks all!

It is possible through patient access.com.  Source: I did it for my visa medical which was three weeks ago.

You don’t request it though, you just login to your account and go to “Medical record” and then “Export Record”. Select your allergies, problems, consultations etc and then select your export format (I did PDF) Print it off and you’re done. Visa Medicals accepted mine no questions asked. Again, with the caveat that I’ve not had any serious ongoing issues or mental health visits so mine was pretty short and to the point.

To do this, you first need to "Link your GP practice". Unfortunately, "GP at hand" is not supported, even though it is listed:

Can't really do that now. Tried to get it with my GP and he just said "Don't do it" and my medical is tomorrow. Not paying £300 for psych either unless they do one at the interview itself...

How did the medical go?

Really easy. Went there, filled in a form, got pushed into a waiting room, then saw a doctor, got prodded, weight and height taken, asked a bunch of questions I obviously said no to cause I've lived a pretty healthy life. They never even asked about the mental health consult but to be fair, it is a CONSULT, I did hear them talk about it among themselves and I think I heard them say to just amend it so maybe they think that cus it was listed as a consult, I was just talking to my GP about how I was feeling (which is actually what happened.) Then I had my x-ray taken and then my vaccinations looked over and the ones I didn't have given to me.

The people were really nice, the guy doing the x-ray's is a BAME fella, really awesome person, easy to talk to. I was missing one shot apparently and I spent about £40 on it. After that I just paid and left. It was one of the easiest experiences I've had at a doctors.

Onto the interview!

Hi all,

Regarding the "Referral from general practitioner (GP) regarding any ongoing medical issues or treatments".

Is this still required if I do not have any ongoing medical issues or treatments? As in, do I need a GP to write that I am not a risk to myself/others, even if I have nothing on my medical history to indicate any issues?

Also, I don't have a GP. I use "GP at hand", the Babylon app. They have my medical records and vaccination list, but I do not have a GP/person I can even ask for such a thing. Does anyone have experience with this?

Many thanks!

If it isnt on your summary care record, it isnt important enough to mention.

Just an update on how my interview went yesterday.

They took paperwork from me as requested rather than handing them a pack. Appointment letter, currier confirmation, 1 Passport pic, Police cert, Birth cert and marriage cert.

They did not ask for anything else unless it was somehow already included with what I handed over.  I feel sure I was only asked 3 questions and made aware of the fact I was reaching the two year point as I was made aware that If I enter at the two year point I MAY need to convert for the 10 but he did openly say he wasn't entirely sure how that worked. I mentioned I was aware and that I heard it could also be automatic but will keep any eye out for it.

I was asked a few questions like how and where we met ( Perhaps he grouped them ) What my husband does for a living and when I plan to move. I am fairly sure that's all I was asked.

I was told I was good to go and my visa would be with me in just over a week.

24 hours later I noticed my case was showing as Administrative Processing but I am going assume that is normal at this point?

I know everyone tends to believe the embassy will be stressful but honestly it was stress free and straightforward. Just be honest and if you don't know or don't remember, be honest and don't guess. I mad a mistake and I corrected it and we both laughed about it.

The hardest thing about yesterday was getting my butt out of bed at 4am but when you realise why you're awake, it's perfectly OK!

Congratulations on the approval! I guess you are British National?  I had my interview on 3rd September, an additional document was requested which I already sent(my guess is because of my chinese nationality, the additional document was requested) but my visa status stuck at” refused” for almost two weeks now. If yours is at “AP” it should be issued later today or Tomorrow! Good luck! And I’m very jealous

Had the medical today. It took maybe an hour between seing the doctor, the nurse and the xray tech.

I went to my GP last week to get the jabs since I dont have my childhood records.

Well, they didnt accept my 2017 tetanus booster because I had no proof of having the original 3 doses. Sneaky....

Did you have to pay at your GP for the jabs? I've got my childhood records but it's in Polish as that is where I used to live then.

Or is it better to have them done on whilst you medical app at visamedical?

This is Covid-normal when they are only partially staffed. They were (at reopening) only interviewing 2 days a week. Then increased to 3 days a week. Maybe they will ramp up again. Anything that opens gets grabbed quickly...supply and demand. Usually only two months are visible at a time so Sept/Oct would show now if available.  Look for November to open maybe the last week of this month.

You could be scheduling your medical date asap so when something opens, that part is done. Do you have your shots/shot record, health summary, and police certificate ready?

Does it mean you can schedule your medical appointment as soon as you've received your LND case number in NVC welcome email? We're just waiting for the paid fees to be cleared out and set as paid on our case, and we're starting with the form and attaching documents asap. Is it worth to make an appointment with visamedicals now?

I got the ones at the GP for free ( and they were happy to since nobody is traveling these days)  but I think that depends on the GP. It will defenetly be cheaper than at the medical though.

i see. I will definitely check with my GP! Did you GP know which jabs you needed to have? Or you just gave them a list of requested ones?
