Are there any fees to pay at the embassy? I know there is one which has to be paid to release the green card but is there one at the embassy too?

Just over 4 weeks till the big day.

Depends on your visa type. Your profile on the left says:

You paid for your visa at NVC. Nothing to pay at interview.

That's wonderful, thank you! I am guessing I still have the Green Card to pay for after the interview and that's that. Since I am flying out on my 2 Year anniversary it'll be N400 after that.

I am getting a little jittery.

This is a nice overview of what is expected/needed.

The visa fee is to the embassy (Dept of State) for issuing your visa.

After you get the Visa, you have to pay USCIS (Dept of Homeland Security) for sending you the greencard. Most pay before they enter, but you can wait too. They all want your money except the Social Security Administration which will send you a SSN gratis.

Nothing to be jittery about. It’s just hoops to jump through and then the suspense of waiting on visa/passport delivery. Even if you forget something important like your birth certificate, you have the courier collect it from you and deliver to the embassy and all is well. Most people take way too much stuff to their interview thinking they’ve got to convince somebody of their relationship. London is “not bovvered”. 😄

Thanks a ton. It mentions bringing the affidavit of support but I believe they already have that as it was part of the NVC stage. A few things like that confuse me no matter how much I think I understand it all lol. I have the most recent transcripts and other original documents ready to go.

"The appropriate Form I-864 Affidavit of Support for each financial sponsor along with a photocopy of the sponsor’s IRS transcript or most recent U.S. federal income tax return, and any relevant W-2s."

They want to see the physical copies of all the evidence you provided at the NVC stage (the main ones are mentioned). It's just another step of confirmation for them. It's not to trip you up, but them confirming that they have seen the original or certified copies of those documents.

It is best to be organised so make sure to bring in all the documents they ask for.

I have them all. I was wondering if I was supposed to have a copy of the original Affidavit my husband filled in but it seems like I don't.

Many thanks.

I believe you need to bring the “original” of every form submitted, so that includes the wet ink signature version of the sponsor form. I’ve been confused and worried about this before so I just had my wife send over the documents to me after we submitted to NVC just in case.

@MattyUKtoUS  @corntop

I personally would tuck a photocopy of the I-864 and required latest tax return/W2 (or transcript) in my bag just in case NVC’s copy disappeared.  A person currently in this forum had a short holdup having to send the W2 by courier when the embassy couldn’t locate the W2 from NVC. I am positive London does not need to see the physical “wet signature” version of Form I-864. They always accept scanned copies of affidavits of support and evidence from applicants who don’t go through NVC screening and present their documents for the first time on interview day.

The originals they ask to verify are the applicant’s  personal civil documents like passport, birth certificate, marriage or divorce records, police certificate. London also does not want more relationship proof or photos at the interview.

Thanks Wuozopo. My main worries were from reading people’s reviews on here where they get a denial for certain documents when the Travel site explicitly states you don’t need to bring them, it got me paranoid so I’m over-preparing instead, think we have the last 3 years of transcripts and W2s ready to print 🤯
